Try to come up with some complex chord changes and try to solo over that using corresponding scales...

Or even a 12 bar blues (which is anything but simple) like A7 D7 A7 A7 D7 Ao7 A7 A7 E7 D7 A7 A7...

It just might get you out of that slump...

Speaking of bass, I've been testing Audio-Assault's "Bass Grinder" software too... not bad at all!
