I can't get excited about this. At all.

If headlining a huge festival tour, in a country where they have never played before (VDIII doesn't count) can be considered "stupid", then yeah, I guess it's "stupid".
But from where this Devil is sitting, it's one HELL of a smart move. Provided the new album drops right before the tour starts, and they play a good chunk of it live, that is.Eternally Under the Authority of Satan

Nah, like we've talked about it other threads, VH has always opened tours in non-major US markets, if not outside the US.... Couple of tours started in Canada....
I imagine the reasoning was that if there were major bugs to be worked out with the shows, word wouldn't get around as quickly as if they opened in, say, Chicago or New York, etc.....
Of course, now with virtually every song in every show being filmed by someone with their phones, they can't get away with very much at all.....
