Dave, i love you but ...(higher register voice)

Dave, i love you and your great voice, i have studied your voice
and techniques for years, i'm sure that singing on the original register
might be boring for you, i'm sure it's much easier and not challenging maybe.
But please stop butchering the tunes, just watched several songs of the Sydney Show.
Still doing Dance the night away on the higher register!
If Dave read this ..please bring the original register back !!!!
The higher register is not fun anymore

Yeah. I don't get it. Than the next song he sounds fine. But his voice is not that great anymore. The guy screamed it away for 30 years.

He can still sound real good if he sticks to his register, why insist on singing high, same thing he did on hot for teacher ! why !
i would love to talk with him about this , it's not better ! btw its way more easier on the lower tone !
He wants to sound like Perry Farrell or something like that

He can't do the screams anymore, which is understandable after a great many years. He's closing in on 60 and to expect the screams of old is no different than expecting the split jump off of the drum riser. The high register thing to me, is all mental over compensation. My uneducated guess is that he's pushing his vocal muscle harder out of mild frustration over his present day physical short comings. "58 is the new 80"? That bit of self deprecation is a tell. He's mentally young enough to do so much more, but father time is stepping on his tail, going "uh uh uh. Not so fast."

Hopefully, he settles into his comfort zone. There are so many damn classis songs that can be nailed with his traditional baritone. He just needs to drop the anchor and stay there. No one here, after 30 plus years, is expecting Dave to be something he never was. He'll get it.

I kind of commented about this same thing in the sticky. Even just a couple of verses sung the way they were originally recorded would do it for me...

Perhaps he is trying to prove he can sing.....a delayed reaction to critics who always said (and some still do) that he talks his way through a lot of songs....

He just needs to find a happy medium.....but then, he is gonna do what he is gonna do. And it it still Uncle Dave.

Why can't Dave sound like this anymore?

Fuckin' great set of pipes for a 50-something feller.

I don't care of his skill as a singer at all.
he's not Hagar. he even is not a hard rock singer to begin with.
                  he's an incomparable entertainer.

Thanks. I may actually be wrong, but who the hell knows but Dave, right? I'm just trying to make sense of, or rationalize why he's going so damn high on Dance The Night Away. Imagine if they pulled Feel Your Love Tonight or So This Is Love out of their hat and he delivered it the same way. I'd say "Houston, we have a problem" followed by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Uh, I hate to break it to you. But since the very beginning, Dave usually sings whatever the fuck he wants.

Agreed. He sounded great on that 07-08 tour. At least from the videos I checked out. I love Dave, always will and he is the only guy to front this band but I wish he would ditch some of that high register stuff too. Especially on this tune.
