The song "Skyscraper" and Led Zeppelin

Maybe I am off the mark but I do not think so, and maybe it was done unconsciously when Dave and Vai recorded it but the foundation of the song "Skyscraper" seems to be based on the template of the music "Achilles Last Stand" by Led Zeppelin and even more so that Van Hagar song "Pleasure Dome" (and why is that even the titles by Hagar make one feel stupid when just typing them out) is too... which made me think that Dave and Ed should have done that Zeppelin song justice in writing an inspired tribute to that song together

After recording Eat 'em & Smile, they were probably unconscious the whole time.

      Cheers!

Now this is quite far-fetched, really...

If there is one plain to hear zeppelinesque tune on that album, that's "Damn Good".

This & the Super Bowl thread is a prime example of what happens when you over-listen & over-think a half-dead, semi-obscure band whose glory days only live on in the heads of their Alzheimer-ridden fans.

But maybe I'm being too negative. I tend to do that, for some reason.

          Cheers!

I hear what you're saying when I listened to those songs. Neither one was all that familiar to me. I'm more of a CVH fan than a solo Dave fan. I had the FUCK cd but I guess I didn't listen to it too many times. This song here used more than the template for "Achilles"

It ripped off the whole song

Thank you! Listen to the foundation, the stagger of the composition, the drum runs on "Skyscraper"... it is there alright and "Pleasure Dome" is following the same shit to build the song and it is not a illusion, and basing anything on Zep is a good thing... and yes on Heart

Ann & Nancy would be the first ones to admit that they were big Zep fans. Even now, they can deliver those songs arguably better than Page & Plant can anymore.....

Plant has made it clear he doesn't want to do any more Led Zep reunions so that point is moot but here's Zep doing the same song just a couple of years before the one you posted was done. The members of Heart are quite a bit younger than the members of Zep so it's not really a fair comparison but I'd still rather hear the real band than a cover version by a band who probably wouldn't have made it nearly as far as they did had they not blatantly ripped off the real band. Heart might have been a known commodity in the pacific northwest but they didn't make the big time until thet released Barracuda which is still "arguably" their biggest hit.

I coulda just said you're full of shit and here's the proof. Zep would have blown Heart off the stage that night.

You think Barracuda was Heart's first national hit? Better mix a little bit of gingko biloba in with your next bowl of weed, your memory is going.......
