I remember an article on Vai in Musician magazine, after he left Dave and just before Passion and Warfare. The writer did a paragraph on the EEAS tour, and said "where Vai played Eruption with his teeth." And yeah, back then it was cool, the show had to be bigger than anything VH had done, but now it's not needed.

All those guys have to do is come out and play and it would blow current VH out of the water. No more stiff ass old coot up there twangin the same shit on his geetar. Damn they'd blow VH right off the stage.

The problem with EEAS playing the VH stuff was the keyboards. It was a fashion thing around that time which was fucking weird because I never ever met anyone that thought putting keyboards following the guitar riffs of Unchained or I Don't Know at the time wasn't shit. I felt that so strongly about it around that time that I gave up playing keyboards entirely because I didn't want to be in a band that had a keyboard player...

I don't mind the keyboards at all in the solo stuff. But yeah, mixed into the Van Fuckin Halen songs it was a bit...odd. But it was a different era and no big deal.
