Could Dave bear some grudge against the French?

What's the matter with Dave? I've already suggested he's been reluctant to coming back to Frogland for some unknown reason. Is there any hodge-podge in there? Would he commit that heavy mistake that consists in considering everybody living in a country as being all the same?
I just can't believe that from him. He's traveled too much to get that wrong... So, why on earth??
I've read the interview by Frank Meyer in here. He mentions French people as an example of unpleasant company you meet in Mosquito Island, for instance.
It may not sound offensive in Diamond's mouth, I know he's really witty, I don't admire any other artist the hundredth I worship him, and I'm no chauvinist (my pseudo is nothing but a joke); what puzzles me is I've got a 1999 boot recorded in... Finland! If he goes there, why not in Paris??
Somebody gotta know something about it. Even the slightest clue would do. Thanks in advance to you, pals!

    That 1999 bootleg inside pic:

I believe it's a case of the old "je ne sais quoi".
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Well, buddy, it doesn't mean a thing, sorry.

I don't think Dave has any corporatist views, either as an American or a Jew. He happens to be both, but it's obvious he's an individual first and foreall, as we all are, wherever we're from.

The 1940-45 occupation period is most shameful. I took fifty pupils to the House of Izieu in Rhône-Alpes last Tuesday, a house that was hired by a doctor to hide Jewish kids until 1944. 104 youngsters aged between 4 and 17 were sheltered, cared about and schooled till the prefect of Lyon was warned of it (all the villagers knew about it and were OK with the "enterprise"), sent the gestapo there to arrest the 44 kids who were still in the place. They were sent to Auschwitz at once, where all of them were immediately put in the gas chambers... Little kids...
There were at the time dirty bastards who got worse and faster than the nazi themselves, from prefects to rotten citizens. Then, there were the Resistants, who were not as numerous, a majority of people who were just waiting, and a fringe of crap taking advantage of the situation with black market or by collaborating. I'm not proud to be French when it comes to talking about that, at least. But I'm never proud at all to be French when it's about positive things either. I can do nothing about my being French, and it's nothing more than information on my passport to me.
So, before the visit, I was really worried about how it would happen. Some of my pupils are muslims, and even here there's a resentment towards Jews because of the Israel-Palestine conflict. So I was scared of some ill-inspired remarks or bad behaviours.
I eventually was wrong, and most glad to be, as everybody among pupils was all right.
Bearing a grudge against the French about the topic is like believing you can judge a whole people like a single person just as if you knew all of them - silly and presomptuous, isn't it?
As for Dave boycotting France owing to his being a Jew and therefore opposed to the French, I don't believe it for half a second.

Man, there must be a reason, though...

Dave mentions in his book going to some famous Paris whorehouse.

I think the chapter was Puss'n'Boots.

If there's money to be had there, I'm sure Dave wouldn't hesitate to go. Maybe the cost of visas, taxes, and transport doesn't jusify the net profits? I don't know.

He barely ever plays NYC< and he frigign' LIVES here.

France is a socialist country. How could he really make a profit? He's got to dish out money for taxes and union workers. Not worth the trouble, regardless his views on the French as a people.

Anyone know the attendence figures of Dave's show(s) in France? Perhaps that might hold the answer.

Funny. But since May 2002 we've got the most right-wing government we've ever had (ultra-capitalists)... since the 1940s collaboration period!
I wish you were right about the country being socialist.

The last time I mentioned this issue, I finally told myself I'd fly to London to see him on stage. But nobody could say the motive for his long absence.
Maybe we can have him in Geneva, thanks to a pal of mine who organizes gigs. He managed to have death metal groups like Morbid Angel, stuff like that. Dave should be "more expensive", but taxes are much less heavy in Switzerland.
There's another music-hall which is bigger, where Kiss has already played a few years ago. So, why not Diamond? There must be a way...

France's version of right wing is being only slightly left of Lenin.

You're just not exacly right (I mean you're a little bit wrong).
But then, what's wrong with not being right-wing?

Dave dressed as Napolean and liked to fuck Parisian whores. Dave is smart enough to know not all French people think the way of the politicians or the arrogant liberal Parisians. Some people in France were making a huge amount of money off of Saddam Hussain and other enemies of the US and Israel.

No, I'm sure Dave knows there's some cool people in France and you can have a blast in Paris or Caan. Heck, the French are way into mountaineering and the outdoors and that is right down Dave's ally.

But if push comes to shove, Dave is always going to support the United States and Israel over anything else.

Sure, I never doubted about that. So, up to now, the only reason that was given is money matters. OK. I was just afraid it was something serious.

France is a pretty large country and the geography and people really differ. Americans see what the press shows them which is the crazy oppinions of some of the French politicians and the Parisians. Parisians think anything outside of Paris is less sophisticated and below them.

In the smaller French towns and in the countryside, it's just people trying to make a living who are proud of their way of life and culture. They want to keep it and fear it will go away.
