    Mexican candidates both declare victory

Great, is this going to be a Mexican version of the 2000 Gore-Bush election?

The last thing we need in this hemisphere is another neocon shitbag connected to energy companies running a country.

But of course, that's exactly the result that the BCE paid for.

It looks like the Democrat won. The link has been updated:

"Calderon brushed off comparisons to the electoral crisis that followed the U.S. 2000 election, in which George W. Bush narrowly defeated
Al Gore. He joked the country's northern neighbor could learn from Mexico.

"We have such advanced institutions that we can do what the United States couldn't," he said.

Somehow I knew this would come into play.
And yes, the difference was by 1%.

            You sure about that?

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico's conservative presidential candidate Felipe Calderon declared victory on Monday in a bitterly contested election and official returns appeared to show his leftist rival could no longer catch him.

If the votes aren't even officially counted until Wednesday (Mexico gets the 4th of July off?) then it's obviously too early for either side to be celebrating.

But it goes without saying that a third country on this continent run by corporatist neocons won't be good news for anyone.

The votes were 96% counted pal, I'd say that's official. Secondly, the recount, both sides admit, has little chance of changing anything.

                Is what it is.....

So unfortunately, that may be the solution for Mexico to get out of the 3rd world status?
