I was hoping Bomber and the regulars would be here too..
Im kinda bummed so far, Carlton lost by 2 goals last
week with the freakin umpire giving Essendon about 5 free kicks
inside 50 from memory.. Final freekick tally was like 26-12
against the Blues.. Fevola kicked 8, the side was playing great.
Just shows you that if the umpires are not consistent and
fair with their free kick tally (and more importantly, where the
kicks are awarded) you are fucked even if you play the
game of your life..

Hope the Swans kick the West Coke Eagle's butts...
In league, Im disenchanted too, If parra dont get rid of
fitzgerald (who should not have any influence over the
actual team) they can get fucked..
Im going for the Rabbits in league..
And of course the Blues in AFL
(Hoping we get an unbiased umpire this week)

No worries, mate. I spoke to Bomber a few days ago and made mention of this thread, but knowing how work internet has denied him from visiting the Army and doesn't have it at home, then I wouldn't count on it. He'll probably just do an occasional pop-in every blue moon.

Fair dinkum 'bout the Essendon match. I recall last year Swans got done by them due to a dodgey umpire decision (the player kicked the ball when his foot was crossed the boundary line - which led to a mark and then a goal which made the difference to a close-necked game). Of course, Bomber would probably tell me otherwise lol.

Mark, my best mate is an Eels supporter and all I hear from him is his extreme dissatisfaction with Tim Smith everytime he plays. Didn't the Eels lose last week because of Tim Smith's return from AA meetings? I've heard the bunnies haven't been playing well so far which is kinda a surprise for me. I would've thought both Souths and Sharks to have strong seasons this year - with Souths continuing their momentum from last year, and Ricky Stuart sinking his influence into the Sharks players, particularly the young recruits. Anyway, I'll be hoping for a reasonable and less embarrassing season for the Dragons and catch the occasional Dogs match on a Friday night. And I don't wish to see the Roosters get anywhere near the top 8. In fact, be good if Mason can get himself into trouble again and get a harsh suspension - he used to be pretty good at that.

Eagles, I guess, have pretty much become the Swans' key nemesis in recent times. So yeah, hope we can get away with a convincing well-played win. Be good if we can see more of this in the game from O'Loughlin.

My point about Parra is that the admins in charge of the
poker machines, have too much input into the actual
football side... Im sure Tim Smith is a good coach, but
geez, how would you like being in charge of a football team
and having to listen to a poker machine manager..
Fuck that !! I have officially lost interest in the EELS unless
they either sack, or dissallow Denis Fitzgerald (Im glad he
fitz in gerald by the way) from having any influence over
the football side of operations..

The Bunnies will come back dont worry..
The Swans are looking ok, still not at their best
and Carlton, well they are not too far off the money
now.. Im thinking mid season they will start notching
up some good wins. Theres some exciting signs on
the wall.. Watching Chris Judd, Fevola, Eddie Betts
and Nick Stevens last week... These dudes are gonna
be unstoppable when they gel...

Mick O'Loughlin is one of the best players I have seen,
him and Goodes are awesome... We have some great
Aboriginal players in the AFL, thats for sure !

Yeah, I get ya. Unfortunately, I guess that's what the game has pretty generated into - a big money bonanza. The thing I hate most of all is when players, particularly the spoilt overrated ones, defect to other clubs for better paychecks. It's understandable, of course, but there's no commitment to any one club anymore. That went out the door towards the end of the 90s. Can thank Murdoch and Super League for that. If I was in my mid-teens at school still pondering on my future, then I'd probably would be spending most of my time playing footy getting good enough to try and lodge me into first grade - and if become a star player then would have a mortage easily paid off by your retirement (from the game that is, of course).

Actually, Tim Smith is the halfback for the Eels. He's a skin-head, has tatts down one of his arms (you know, the usual trend these days), and kinda acts retarded when he celebrates. He got busted towards the end of last season for irresponsible behaviour whilst on the drink, and so the Parramatta club put him on an indefinite suspension and program to get him off the grog. I remember Smith not that long ago was out near my way in a Cronulla pub and had fight with cricketer Michael Clark. Well, anyway, some have built him up to be like the next Andrew Johns but certainly hasn't produced anything close to that. Even Eels greats say that he should brushed aside for someone else. I dunno who the Eels coach is these days, I remember Michael Hagan had a stint with them, not sure if he's still there?

Yeah, it seems Eagles going crap since they've lost Judd to you guys. Hope does well for the Blues.

O'Loughlin is my fav Swans player, then Goodes after him. Usually, Barry Hall laps up the attention with the club but he's too frustrating to watch when he plays bad. But I've heard he's suppose to have eye-sight problems, if that's liable excuse?

Don't really follow the AFL that much, more a League man.

Been a Penrith Panthers fan since i was 5 amd i moved up to the Gold Coast in 2006 so the Titans are my 2nd team. I'm even a season ticket holder and have been since 2007, looking forward to the footy again this year.

Also a bit of a fan of the Hyundai A-League. I'm a Mariners fan all the way being an old Central Coast resident. Gold Coast have a side next year for the 09/10 season so i'll definately check them out. They've just signed socceroo Jason Culina as their marquee player

Im for the EELs in the ever shrinking NRL and the mighty Carlton
Blues in the ever expanding AFL !! Gosh, its so true I actually
feel a little guilty taking a jab... Does anyone actually go
and watch their NRL team live anymore ?? All I ever see on TV
is a few people bunched up on one side of the ground watching..
(About the same numbers AFL get at their training sessions)
The state of origin still rocks, and I think if anything saves
Rugby League, it will be the cockroaches and canetoads !
