McGwire now (finally) implicated in the steroids reports

I don't feel like copying and pasting, but now ESPN.com is reporting that McGwire is being linked to steroid usage. Gee what took them so long. You know I never would have guessed

And what a coinkidink, as the article reports, that the six highest home run totals in MLB history are by Bonds, McGwire and Sosa, all implicated in the steroids investigation. Gee I'd never have known just by looking at their ridiculously puffed up faces.

Still got to have the hand-eye coordination to hit the ball...steroids or not. It wasn't illegal to use it in baseball when McGwire was playing, so what's the big fucking deal.

What the fuck ever. So McGwire, Bonds,Giambi etc. would have hit all those homers whether they were juiced or not? Their hand-eye coordination just happened to have peaked at the same time they used steroids? BULLSHIT. A lot of balls that wouldn't have went out did because of the extra strength these guys got from steroids. Fuck Bud Selig, there should be asterisks flying all over the place in the record books.

        Just a matter of time....

Of course, all of this is he said/he said.....

You're never gonna get proof, unless you get some wiretaps or something....

I agree. Still got to put wood on the ball coming at you at 90+ and moving all over the strike zone.

I wish it would all go away. Tired of hearing it and the season is coming up.

But agree with VA also, it will never be a clear cut as the truth.

And you never know blueturk, they juiced the ball also, making it more lively and smaller ballparks, shittier pitching, etc.

Why is it all about being at the plate, wouldn't pitchers want to be bigger and stronger, throwing no hitters left and right? Did they juice? Haven't really heard about any pitchers.

I'm a little dumbstruck by all of this...being a baseball purist as you all know I am...but I now...and don't take offense to this please...know how dumb I sounded.

No Va...they'll never have "proof," other than the fact they all DID steroids...you don't need proof to know it's true.

Yes Brownie...you do have to have the hand-eye coordination to hit the ball...and nobody will doubt that nearly ALL the guys implicated have great hand/eye...but the rebuke to that is extremely obvious. What Roids do is allow you to live more...recover quicker...become bigger and stronger...so you take a guy with great hand/eye...who hits for decent power...as all these guys do...and you turn what...10-20 long fly balls into homers?...Look at Bonds year in which he hit 73...hell...look at Bonds since his power has upgraded...and you look at a guy who's steroids literally changed him as a hitter...

The year that he hit 73...he had 156 hits...so...close to half of his hits were dingers...I haven't watched them all...but I know some of those were just over the wall...all of which you could make a case for not going over if he wasn't as big as he was. You could come back with his walks...but I'd then come back with the reason he gets walked a lot is partially hand eye...but more because teams pitch around him...because of his ability to hit the ball out of the park. You don't pitch around a single or doubles hitter very often...because they aren't hitting clean up...and they aren't hitting homers that change the game...

you could carry that over to all the players listed...with the potential exception to McGwire...who had power from the start...but...who has apparently been taking since 1987 or 88...

Do I think Barry Bonds is a great ballplayer? Absolutely. Do I think that he's one of the best of all time? Without the power surge...I would have said that...

It's semantics when you say steroids weren't banned by baseball at the time. Fact of the matter is the only reason they WEREN'T banned is because Selig is a fucking joke...and the union and owners walk all over him...their perfect commisioner...

But what you have done now is tarnished the 2 records in baseball that were REVERED in all of sports...and that makes me fucking sick to my stomach...and to hear these fucking guys say, "I didn't know..."

              horseshit...

They were roided up...they knew it...we knew it...and the worst thing is...the commisioner knew it...and did nothing...

Now...Barry...one of the true greats of our generation...will never be seen as just that...because of the cloud...and a deserved one...

30 years from now...it will be part of baseball history...like Cobb...the Black Sox...and Maris' asterisk...

It's only part of what's ruined the game....

I'd also blame MLB for doing NOTHING on it until last year, and that was a joke until this year....

But baseball's ridiculous economic system has been ruining the game slowly but surely for about 15 years now....

Jesus, he could have been in the WWF with that set.

I think I'll just erase 1988-2004 in my mind and go back to the days when 40 homers was considered a monster season.

Fine, MLB is at fault too and actually they might deserve the lion's share of the blame because you know they knew about this shit and just aided and abetted it in 1998 because they NEEDED the home run chase desperately to get people back into baseball again.

Well look at the price they paid as the shit hits the fan now. If Barry Bonds hits HR 756 in an opposing park, watch out because it'll be UGLY.
