Ricky Williams shows up to Training Camp...

This should be an interesting camp...and it will be interesting to see how the Dolphins handles having 2 great backs...as they rarely have one...

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Running back Ricky Williams reported to Miami Dolphins training camp on Sunday morning, nearly one year to the day after he told the team he was retiring from football.

Williams, driving a blue sport utility vehicle, arrived at the team's training facility around 8:45 a.m. He did not comment to reporters waiting outside the complex. The team's first formal training-camp media availability is scheduled for Monday.
The 2002 NFL rushing champion decided to seek reinstatement after sitting out last season, saying at the time he'd lost the urge to continue playing. Williams faces a four-game suspension at the start of the season for violating the league's substance abuse program, yet likely will be able to play in preseason games.

Williams acknowledged shortly after retiring that he failed drug tests and faced a suspension for testing positive three times for marijuana.

Williams rushed for 3,225 yards and 25 touchdowns in two seasons with the Dolphins. He informed former coach Dave Wannstedt of his retirement plans last July 23, one week before the start of training camp - a move that stunned teammates, and played a role in Miami's downward spiral. The Dolphins were 4-12 last season.

A court later found the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner in breach of contract by retiring, and ordered him to repay the team $8.6 million. The team has not yet sought to collect the settlement, and new coach Nick Saban offered Williams another chance to play for the Dolphins.

It is absolutely paramount that they get this guy back into football shape and create a trade market for him.

I've heard some guys on "Around the Horn" say he may rush for 800-1000 yards this season.

No way it happens. But 300-400 should happen if they want to move him.

The only thing that they need to do here Al is simple...

get him to perform in preseason...then they'll have 4 weeks to deal him...

I think they can move him this year...for something moderately substantial...

He'll play a lot in the pre-season from what I'm reading.

Obviously the snail like pace the top draft picks are being signed at is a factor, and the fact that he will have to serve a 4 game suspension means they HAVE to spotlight him in the pre-season to create the market.

Be interesting to see how much weight he puts on, if he stays near the 200 mark, or tries to get closer to the 235 he played at before.

              BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Honestly...that would be one hell of an ice breaker...

and look...if Miami was so dependant on Williams...the him not being there caused them to suck...then...well...they suck...lmfao...

They're probably all jealous that he thought of quitting for a year...

I have no idea where you're going with that one...

Are you implying that Cheech took the year off because he didn't want to play for Wannstadt ??

This is all about Wannstadt ??

If he showed up in a Jamal Lewis jersey with his head shaved, watch out pre-season rushing records!

He was pissed that they didn't upgrade the line, and the play calling where they had him running straight into the line and he was getting hammered.

Not sure if he blamed Wanny for that.

They did say that the lighter weight made him appear quicker and more elusive.

But no, I don't think he'll do much, enough to maybe get another team interested for him for maybe a 3rd round pick.
