Those teams all had one thing Atlanta does not have...a dominating defense.

Also, if you notice, those QB's (during that season) made enough plays, avoided mistakes, and managed the games well enough on offense to win. Michael Vick doesn't do that well.

You know...Atlanta has some pieces on that defense...that are really...really good...and they have the potential to be huge...on D...

but they do make a ton of mistakes...

Vick doesn't manage games...doesn't have the ability to do it as a team...

against weaker teams...he can dominate himself...but not with a passing game...

      I gotta tell you...

San Diego fucking screwed Atlanta in getting Brees and Tomlinson...

There isn't a team in the land that wouldn't take Brees over Vick as a QB...I think if Vick asked to become that slash-like player...he automatically be one of the greats in the game...let Schaub be the starter...and have Vick in every play at WR, QB or RB...

you wouldn't be able to stop him...

Dilfer made no mistakes...nothing spectacular...but could throw a deep ball if he had to...and never threw interceptions...protected the ball...

Kerry Collins? Did he make it to a Super Bowl? I know he was in a couple of championship games...and turnovers killed him in both...

Brad Johnson...a carbon copy of Dilfer...without the gun...

Brad Johnson probably won himself a starter's job somewhere...we'll see...I'm not a big fan...but he can move the ball with some tools...

Collins was the QB for the Giants when they played Baltimore (Dilfer). Brett you are right about the defense, the problem with the falcons is on the defensive side, it's poor tackling. Vick isn't losing the games the defensive is, to tell you the truth there are only a couple of games in his career that you could blame the losses on him. He'll never be a Marino, Elway or Montana but he is a good starting QB. In three years as a starter he's been to the playoffs twice including one NFC championship game, and the probowl three times (granted the pickings were kind of slim this year).

            He isn't a pro bowler...this year...

That's right...Collins did goto the bowl that year...the one Super Bowl that I didn't watch because of the two teams involved...

And the problem on Atlanta goes a lot deeper than the defense.

You don't have to blame Vick for losses...but I've never seen a team go 3 and out more than Atlanta...or at the most...1 first down...

Vick is an outstanding athlete...but his qb numbers simply aren't very good...

and if you don't believe me...look them up.

He does lead them into the playoffs...not sure how that is other than the NFC is down now...

but you see what happens when a couple of teams step up...like Carolina and Tampa...

            He's a good player...but not a good QB...

He did make the probowl this year.

Look at the falcons offensive numbers (pts per game, 3rd down conversions, yds per play...) it's not the offence the is losing the games, they couldn't stop the run or the pass this year. Some of that was due to injuries but it was still on the defensive side of the ball. Good quarterbacks win score points, if you go by stats Bradshaw was no better than Vick. By the way the falcons are 6 and 2 against the AFC in the last two seasons.

I could go on and on about this...but I'm not going to.

                  Vick fans are...well...Vick fans...

Bradshaw is in the hall of fame because of the Super Bowl wins...if he didn't have those...he wouldn't have made it into the Bowl...not even close...

I've been a falcon fan since I can remember, when Vick came along I didn't really care for his style, but he won games. This year he banged up his knee and sat in the pocket for 3 games his QB rating was right around 100 for all of the games, they lost 2 of those games. He can pass the ball, the defense can't stop anybody, otherwise they would be in the playoffs again. He's not an alternate in the probowl he was voted in.

Like I said, that's the reason they won or got to Super Bowls. Great defenses, error-free QB's who did enough to help the offenses score. Nothing spectacular.

Collins was the Giants QB against the Ravens in the Super Bowl, although he didn't win it. He did have a very good season, limited his mistakes, managed the game well.

Vick is an incredible talent, I am just not sure his talent is at the QB position. I'm going to give him one more year to convince me otherwise.

                              Year 6 now...

and like I said...Vick COULD revolutionize the game...the same way that Kordell did last year...

you have Schaub as your official starter at QB...and Vick listed as a HB/WR/QB...and put him in every down...somewhere...

he's faster than the secondary...he's obviously got the ability to make linebackers look like bitches...

and you set up a defense at an incredibly disadvantage...

Back to topic, you can't compare Vick's stats to anyone else's. You should watch linebackers when he gets out of the pocket. He dupes so many of them and makes them look silly. Safeties don't know what to do either. His intangibles don't show up in the stats, but the win/loss column does and he's not overrated in that sense at all.
Yeah, until his knees blow up! There's a reason why quarterbacks have largely thrown the ball, instead of just running with it, since the early part of the 20th century...It's called longevity. VICK is a novelty that will wear thin once the injury bug sets in, as they already are starting too...
