Baseball Needs A Salary Cap or Something

Okay With Johnny Damon going to the Yankees, and The Yankees collecting All Stars like Baseball cards. Isn't it time for a Salary Cap? I mean look what It did for the NFL, Instead of it just being about the Cowboys and 49ers, Now there is Parity in The League and The only team to really "Dominate" is the Pats. I mean wouldn't it be more entertaining to talk about Teams other The Yanks and The Red Sox. To me this is a Big part of why Baseball is really failing in a lot of places (EX: Tampa Bay, Marlins, Until recently The Expos.). Because their teams have no chance to compete.

    Anyone else with me?

That piece of shit organization called the Marlins won the series a few years ago. If they have no pride and don't want to continue winning and having success what are you going to do?

The Yanks made a big splash in acquiring Damon and now they're stockpiling players. Well if you can do it more power to ya. What do you expect us to do?

Obviously no one made an attractive offer to Damon or he would have went somewhere else.

          Should baseball have a cap?

          Yes...

but...it's the owners and players that keep it from happening...

          The players want more money...

and the owners kowtow to the big clubs...because Selig is a giant pussy...

so the Yankees work under the current guidelines...and I say more power to them...

as you can see from the past 5 years...it's done them no good for Series appearances...and I think that trend will continue this year...although their bullpen is substantially improved...

They have what they call a luxary tax UNCME ... they go over a certain salary ceiling, and they pay into the league for every doolar they are over.

Baseball didn't adopt a hard salary cap and this is what you get.

As long as Selig is commisioner...there will never be a hard cap...

I personally think that Selig is the worst commisioner I have seen. When The All Star Game event happened, That cemented my thoughts on him.

That was by far...his least transgression...

He was an owner...and after they got rid of Fay Vincent (not a good commisioner by any stretch...but...at least a commisioner not provoked by the owners to their beck and call), the owners decided to handle things themselves...voting in Selig in an interim role...an owner...

nothing more needs to be said...

Would a CAP keep my Mariners from making bonehead after fucking bonehead move year after year after year after year..............

                    no.

Difference between Scott Weiland, and the Mariners?

Scott knows a good deal when he sees it.

It is tough for any mid to small market team fan to get excited about a season when you already know who the 3-4 teams are that will compete in the end. Eventually all the mid and small market fans will lose interest and then baseball will make changes. That's why the World Series ratings always suck - no one cares except the fans whose teams are playing.

                        And that's the difference...

good sound management is the big difference maker...probably more than money...as the past few years have probably proven...

but money certainly can get you to the playoffs...

people watching the games or not watching has nothing to do with money...

it has everything to do with marketing...

who wants to stay up until 1 in the morning every night to watch games?

and marketing strategies have become extremely regionalized...

$$$$ has never been an issue with The Nintendariners.......

And I'm sick and tired of squeezing nickles and throwing away dollars...

Want to watch the Mariners in The Playoffs???

No problem. They'll just be in various other uniforms.....

Exactly The only reason I watched last year is because Houston was in it, And I like Houston. Had it been something like Yankees-Braves, Would have never even paid attention.
