Report: Duckett to Redskins, Lelie to Falcons in three-team deal
August 22, 2006
DENVER (Ticker) - The Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons both filled voids created by injuries in a three-team trade with the Denver Broncos, the Rocky Mountain News reported Tuesday night.
According to the report, the Redskins acquired running back T.J. Duckett from the Falcons, who landed disgruntled wide receiver Ashley Lelie from the Broncos. Denver wound up with draft choices.
The report said that Denver will receive Washington's first- and third-round picks if the Redskins finish with a worse record than the Broncos this season. If Washington finishes with a better record, Denver would receive third- and fourth-round picks.
In Washington, Duckett could serve as a valuable insurance policy for Clinton Portis, who suffered a partially dislocated left shoulder in the club's first preseason game. It is uncertain if Portis, who rushed for franchise-record 1,516 yards last season, will be ready for the Redskins' opener on September 11.
A 2002 first-round pick, Duckett served as the Falcons' short-yardage back and was the power in the running game to offset the speed of Warrick Dunn. Last season, Duckett rushed for 380 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games.
Duckett, 25, has rushed for 2,175 yards and 31 touchdowns in 54 career games.
Lelie would fill the Falcons' need for a third receiver that was created early in training camp when Brian Finneran suffered a season-ending knee injury. Selected 19th overall in 2002 - one pick behind Duckett - Lelie finally would get the change of scenery that he had been seeking.
Unhappy with the prospect of being the No. 3 receive in Denver behind Javon Walker and Rod Smith, Lelie had not attended any of the Broncos' offseason workouts or training camp. The team had fined Lelie $14,000 per day, a total that reached $322,000 as of Monday.
Lelie, 26, struggled last season, finishing with just 42 catches for 770 yards and one touchdown in 16 games. He set career highs in catches (54), yards (1,084) and touchdowns (seven) in 2004.
In four seasons, Lelie has 168 receptions for 3,007 yards and 12 TDs.

Lelie is a cunt...an overrated cunt...
and he'll do absolutely nothing in Atlanta...but be the average cunt that he is...
Duckett...on the other hand...damn...
I so wanted the Steelers to go after him..."Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."Comment

Duckett pulls his head out of his ass ... and dedicates himself ... he would move Parker to 3rd down specialist in my opinion. Maybe not the feet Bettis had, but was always suppose to.
Played both RB and LB in HS ... I believe he started as a LB at MSU before switching.Comment

aren't you thinking of his brother?
I could be wrong...I know his brother was a bigtime lb at MState...
not sure about TJ..."Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."Comment
