If Arkansas had played them as the 2nd game instead of it being moved by ESPN, they would have had a better chance to find out more things about themselves and adjust a little better. Robert Johnson probably wouldn't have been the starter, although it would have probably been Casey Dick, who was hurt. And without the 5 turnovers, it might have been a much tighter game. New OC and the most talented people on the team are mostly freshmen and sophomores that still had to gel together.

If they can keep it up, the only hurdles left are Tenn, S. Carolina, and LSU, who is now 2 games behind us in the West. And 2 of those are at home.

My mistake on the polls. The voters moved Florida into #2 and left USC at #3 because of their performances the last couple of weeks.

    Hogs at # 17! :D

Yep Florida is at #2. Good for them, doesn't bother me at all. USC hasn't played like normal yet this year. Like I said, I feel good if they go 12-0, they'll be there. If not, 12-0 is 12-0, I can't exactly cry over it either.

Apparantly the voters thought that Florida's SEC victory over LSU was a little more impressive than barely beating Washington.

How can the conference that puts the most players in the NFL be overrated?

Yes had USC pounded Washington, they'd be #2. I wouldn't say they barely beat them, SC let them back into the game about 50 times, but yes that last drive they were moving. Whatever doesn't really matter, SC's not going to beat good teams playing they are, that concerns me way more than the polls. At this point, Cal is going to own us unless the offense wakes up.

And AP #2 looks like a unlucky spot anyway, everyone keeps losing who gets there.

I'm not going to get into this discussion...other than to say this...

top to bottom...there isn't a conference better than the SEC...

it may be overrated...but you really have nothing to judge that on other than the Arkansas game...

                  I despise the SEC...

but when you have as many teams in that conference that can beat you any day of the week...well...

                  like I said...

                  it's the best...period...

if you go team by team...there isn't even another conference that's close...

And I'm just looking team by team...not even at the polls...

I still don't think Florida should have jumped USC though...

it's not like LSU was undefeated...

My only concern right now is beating the piss out of Michigan State...no more...no less...

All I know is USC has owned the SEC (forever not just the last 5 years) whenever they've played any of those teams. I've never been impressed, ever. Jesus SC walked into Auburn a few years ago with an entirely new team and won 23-0 in Auburn. When am I supposed to be impressed?

Last year the SEC was awful in bowl games, including Wisconsin destroying Auburn...and certainly not a great Wisconsin team.

And of course those teams rarely will travel out of the south. Arkansas coming to California was shocking to me, those schools never want to leave the south.

Well actually I was looking, SC is 17-10-1 against the SEC, but apart from Auburn and Arkansas they haven't played anyone else in the conference since 1985. Like Geogia for example, SC is 3-0 against them but hasn't played them since 1960. LOL. And 4-0 against Tennessee, but hasn't played them since 1981.

Well...I live down here...so I have these teams jammed down my fucking throat week after week...

after growing up with Big 10 football my entire life...I can safely say that the top tier SEC teams are as good as the top tier Big 10 teams...

I just think there are more top tier SEC teams overall...

Florida, Auburn, LSU and Georgia are at the top of that conference year in and year out (at least over the past 6 or 7 years)...

just those four teams at the top of any conference is daunting...

seriously...even if they aren't as good as USC...would YOU want USC playing those four week in and week out?

I sure wouldn't want OSU doing it...

Then you goto the 2nd tier...who by themselves...I don't think scares anyone...but...when you have games against Florida, Auburn, LSU and Georgia looming...doesn't give you a respite...

                            Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina...

and hell...the bottom four have been good recently...

Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Miss. State...

                            point is...that fucking grind...

When you really look at it...

                            it's mindboggling really...

Yep, far cry from when our biggest challenges every year were Texas and Texas A&M in the SWC, although I wish they could come over into the conference.

Being in this conference does improve your strength of schedule ratings tremendously. Last year we had the toughest schedule in the country by adding USC.

And in those bottom 4, we still have had to face a 1st round draft choice at QB at Vandy last year and Eli Manning at Ole Miss when he was around.

Kentucky had a #1 pick in the draft a few years ago...in Couch...

and are decent this year as well...
