First and foremost, what an amazing game.
Ten seconds after the Tyree catch I said aloud to the room: "That was the greatest catch in the history of the Super Bowl". Giants fans will tell their great-grandchildren about that amazing catch. The whole play, really.
The Giants truly wanted it more. They out played, and out-coached the Patriots in all aspects of the game.
I never said the Giants couldnt win that game.
The story of the Giants is very similar to the story of the Pats beating the Rams, only the Rams' loss wasnt greeted with half as much glee and gloating by the teeming hordes of pop-culture football fans...
The clock said 0:00 for a few seconds. Then they put :01 back up. Both coaches walked onto the field because they thought the game was over.
BOTH coaches should have gone back to the sidelines when they found out it wasnt.
I can understand all the Patriot-hate. I really can. If I wasnt from New England, I would hate them just as much as you do.
What is sad is the way desperate and win-starved fans from other cities, and spiteful media hacks, are clinging to the 'Spy-gate' story like it was the last life-jacket on the deck of the Titanic.
I said this back when Man-gina went and tattled to the teacher: If you really, in your heart of hearts, think that 'Spy-gate' is the only reason, or even a major reason, that the Patriots have been succesful these past 8 seasons, you really should just hang a sign around your neck that says "I know nothing about football".
Every team does whatever it can do to get some kind of advantage over the competition. Does that mean that breaking the rules is ok? No, it doesnt. The Patriots got caught, and they paid the price. Your team is doing something that is shady and might even be considered to be breaking NFL rules RIGHT NOW. And if you think they are not...go get that sign I talked about in the last paragraph...
And Belechick is 'classless' because that's the way he is represented to the masses of pop-culture football fans out there. It's fun sport now to make this guy a villan. So congratulations on all that piling-on you are doing. Hope it makes you sleep better.
The last thing I want to say right now is that as a Patriots fan that goes back a few years to remember the REALLY bad times when we would win a few games a season, to have this much hate pointed at the team that I grew up with and love, well, it just means that my team must win an awful lot now.
And that makes me sleep better.
