I don't get it either, as the Redskins were something like 6th in the league last year on defense. Wouldn't it make sense to go after a reciever or two? Maybe they'll find a couple in the draft, yet it seems to me that over the years Washington has always spent absurd amounts of money in free agency, with very little to show for it.
Laron Landry played 25-35 yards off the line of scrimmage...with Fat Albert in town they can line him up in the box and actually create pressure on defense.
The fans here in the DC area would bitch if they didn't sign Haynesworth, and they are bitching now that they did.
Bottom line, he was the best free agent out there.
I really think that Devin Thomas or Malcolm Kelly will be big producers at WR for them this year.

They will probably draft a LB with the 13th pick in the draft.Originally Posted by WARF:

Man, what is Washington thinking these days? Plus a piece on Kurt Warner and T.J. Houshmandzadeh...
Redskins cut defensive end Taylor
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
March 3, 2009
Former NFL defensive player of the year Jason Taylor's disappointing turn in the nation's capital came to an end yesterday when he was cut by the Washington Redskins for refusing to commit to the team's offseason workout program.
The Redskins wanted to add a workout clause to Taylor's hefty contract, but the 34-year-old defensive end declined. The clause would have required Taylor to take part in 25 days of offseason workouts.
The six-time Pro Bowl end had been considered a possible salary-cap cut because of the value of his contract, which would have paid him a salary of about $8.5 million this season.
Houshmandzadeh to Seattle
According to several reports, T.J. Houshmandzadeh has agreed to a five-year deal with the Seahawks worth $40 million. The former Bengals eight-year veteran had 92 catches for 904 yards and four touchdowns this past season.
Niners wine, dine Warner
Kurt Warner is being courted by an eager division rival of the Arizona Cardinals. The San Francisco 49ers sent a private jet for the two-time MVP quarterback, who traveled from Phoenix to the team's complex for a physical exam and a meeting with top brass. Arizona has offered a two-year, $20-million contract to Warner, who will be 38 when training camp opens. But Warner is seeking at least $14 million per season.

My guess is Jason Taylor just doesn't want to play football any longer. I can't imagine any other team signing him now, knowing that all he had to do was commit to a 25 day offseason workout program, play the season out and pick up 8.5 million. His heart just isn't into it. I don't understand why he didn't play one more season and pick up that kind of money, and THEN enjoy time with his family and kids in retirement. 8.5 mill is a shitload of money.Comment

Fuck Jason Taylor.
He wasn't worth the trade and sure as hell isn't worth 8.5 million.
