No surprise on my front...been saying it all along...that Bobby Valentine is a top candidate for the Indians job. IMO...it wouldn't be the best hire...but it would be a good one.

There really wasn't much other choice.
Cowher went over to Lerner and said his heart was into it, so he was out.
Pioli was interviewed and his intent was to bring in McDaniels and Cassell, and that wasn't exactly music to Randy's ears
Shanahan wants to collect the rest of his contract, so that choice was a no.
Frankly, if Mangini doesn't work out in 3 year (I'm assuming that like every Browns coach before, he will not), I'd really like to see them try for Cowher one last time, maybe not a s HC but moreso a Team President like Parcells or if Marty Schottenheimer would be interested in doing something similiar if he's not too old.Still waiting for a relevant Browns TeamComment

Indians hire Manny Acta. Don't really know what to think about that one. He had a shitty record in DC, but they actually have LESS talent than the Tribe. I need to call my best friend from college who lives in DC now, to see what he thinks about this guy.

I'm as much of a capitalist as anyone, but this shouldn't be confused with a free market situation. These are franchises under one umbrella. The McDonald's on 10th Street isn't competing with the McDonald's on 22nd Street. It's supposed to be competing with the Burger King on 10th Street. The Yankees don't "win" if they run all of the other teams out of business. They are stuck with nobody else to play against. It's a big Lose-Lose.

Listen...I liken a guy like Kosar to a guy like Mario Lemieux in Pittsburgh...
Lemieux loved the city...loved the Penguins...and was able to (manipulate) shape the league a bit...
Now...Kosar loves the Browns...has wanted a piece of this team for ages...and would do whatever it takes...
Of course...Lemieux is the owner...so there are no restraints there...
Kosar would need room...and to hire a coach...
Mangini blows...and there were other choices...
