Von is a Yankee fan?? Huh.

In any case. This is about how far behind the first place Sox the Yankees were on this day in '78. How did that pan out?

Lotta baseball left to play this year.

Yep, there is. But as a Red Sox fan you get used to being disappointed.... Yankee fans, not so much (at least the last 15 years).

The Sox have as many wins right now as they had all season last year, and if they don't make the post season it's still a great year for them after last. Never though they could turn it around that quickly.

Von always razzed me, so time for me to return the favor.

I've been pretty disappointed with the Yanks since game 7 of the '01 series. That fucker was ours!

The shit years of the early '90s actually built up towards the great years of '96 - '01. Ever since then, it's really been an embarrassment of riches being thrown at aging undeserving stars. It's as if they had learned nothing from Gene Michael with regards to putting the right men on the field. It's always an incohesive bunch and Derek Jeter. The '09 series was a joyless victory for me. Sure, a $200,000,000 team is eventually going to eat everything in it's path, but where's the fun in that? Maybe someday, MLB will have a salary cap and level the playing field some day. The lack of a cap is a problem that is every bit as annoying as all of the drug scandals.

They really need to blow the team up, get rid of all the overpriced/aging players and contracts, and concentrate on their farm. Doubt they will as that will entail too many down years, and the fan base (more so the media) will eat them alive. That, and I hope Capt Jeets hangs it up after next year. Like Mo, I always had respect for him (one of the few guys I can believe is playing clean) and it'd be a shame to see him embarrass himself by playing too long.

The Yank-mees can't go backwards and let the Mets take the media spotlight. The expectation to spend piles of money is hanging over them.

Yea, but spend money on whom? The free agent crop next year is thin, they really have no depth to their farm, and Cano isn't going to be worth what some other team will be willing to throw at him. AND if they are serious about getting under the luxury tax to reset (and it does appear that way) then they can't throw the money around to begin with.

                          27 World Championships.

                          Suck on that.

The 2 best teams in the AL seem to be the Tigers and Indians right now. What a series this has been. Sorry the Tigers have had to show their mettle, by coming from behind and bitch slapping the Injuns in their own house this series!

Yeah, last night's postgame was full of "just win once at home against the Tigers" and a lot of praise for Salazar's pitching.

Gonna be busy downtown tonight, Tribe/Tigers and Browns preseason.

HA! I'd knew you'd show for this. Typical MFY fan, when all else fails PULL OUT THE RINGS!

Gonna watch the Yank game tonight? I am. I'm A-Rods biggest fan now (nobody will hear me cheering though), Pulling for him to hit two homers tonight. That much closer to the 6 Mill baby!!

In all seriousness, tonight is gonna be a shit-show for him that's for sure. This is going to make the post-season look like a love fest for him......
