    Thurman Munson's plane crash

I don't remember alot about this guy quite honestly, but there is an intereresting read at ESPN.com about him.....
I feel really sorry for the survivor's of this crash..although i think i woulda either died or gotten Munson out of that plane...has to be hard to live with the fact that you pretty much left the guy for dead..........

Wait...he was alive when the plane crashed?

    Is this new news?

I was really young when it happened...but coming from Ohio...and having a Yankee fan as a pop...left me with a lot of knowledge about Munson...and I thought about this crash...

according to the guy telling the story(he was one of the survivors)Munson's last words were "I can't move"....his neck was broken and his legs were pinned in...they tried to get him out but the plane filled with smoke... this guy and another jumped out..they said Munson was unconscious when they left him...

God...that was sad...I didn't remember that he was alive after the plane had crashed...not sure that was public knowledge...I mean...it must have...

        Sad...

My dad still talks about him reverently...

I remember when it happened. My mom was upset about it. I think he was trying to get traded to Cleveland. I know he lived in Ohio somewhere.

I read the ESPN article today...

Basically, the easier door to open once the plane crashed was jammed...

So, they tried the other one, where the fire was.... Once they did that, the plane started getting engulfed in flames and heavy smoke....

Munson's legs were pinned and he was bloody....

They tried one last time to get him out of there but couldn't budge him....

One of the two survivors got out of the plane and passed out himself.....

Gotta be a horrible feeling, knowing that you left him there while he was still alive, but having to save your own life....
