I've always thought RJ had one of if not the fastest pitches in baseball. When he was younger, batters feared him. Clemens did so well because he had good talent behind him, i.e. yankees. He did however have some not so excellent teams, but overall, he had a helluva team behind him.

there's no way nolan ryan should be considered in a best pitcher of the era. no way.

the guy has almost as many losses as wins. and he holds the record for most walks.

he's a great longevity pitcher. and a hell of a strikeout thrower. and yeah, he could DOMINATE some games. but i don't take his career if i'm looking for a pitcher to control my franchise. no way.

the funny thing about johnson is, i remember when he first came up, he was fast as hell and ricky vaughn wild man with the pitches. he had a couple of games against the o's back in the day where he lasted no more than 4 innings and dished out 10 walks. multiple times.

but goddamn if he didn't turn himself around. a little bit more control and he's a brutally effective pitcher. had he been this effective early on in his career, i'd take johnson hands down.

as it stands, i go with clemens. except for his last season or 2 with the sox, he was pretty much a dominating pitcher every season. and obviously, those last two in boston weren't the end.

Yeah...RJ turned it around about 10-12 years ago...

after working with Nolan on his mechanics...and gaining some control...

but I remember when he was throwing behind guys...and I seem to recall a game in which he had 10 K's and 10 walks...lmfao...funny shit...

            I'll go with Maddux.

Between '92 and '00, he was practically unhittable, and hardly walked a batter.

              Clemens.

He's been better longer than the other 3. They're great pitchers don't get me wrong. But, Clemens has been great from the begining of his career and all the way thru.

The others needed alittle time to turn into stars. I hope I've explained myself well. :p

This is tough, between Johnson & Clemens. They're about the same age, but Johnson took longer to develop; but when he did I think he is/was more dominant. I'll go with Johnson based on raw talent.

he doesn't have the power of Clemens, and has always done it with location...

of course...Va will tell you it was all the umps...but I'm sure even he will grudgingly admit that Maddux was damn good...

and correct me if I'm wrong...only 1 Cy Young less than Clemens...a lower ERA...and the best pitcher on one of the best staffs of all time...

You're fucking right, Maddox would NEVER get my vote !!!!

Not Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, or any other Atlanta Brave cocksucker !!!!!

OK, got a little carried away there at the end....

                  Yeah, can't deny Maddox's consistency....

I mean really, Josh Fogg throws the same speed as Maddox, and I don't see him starting much longer in the big leagues....

So, I'll give him his props...

Even if he did have the widest strikezone in the history of baseball....

This is tough but I gotta go with the Rocket, then Randy, then Greg but it's really close. Pedro does not belong on this list--when he pitches big in a big game let me know.
