There's plenty that can make them join a conference...

and it WILL happen at some point.

It may not be for awhile, as these season tend to come every five or six years. Perhaps Kelly can keep them there...but I'm not as convinced...

    We shall see.

To be honest, being an independent is the way to go, and Notre Dame made a commitment to play five ACC teams (a shit conference) a year, which will ease up their schedule...

    So...they'll have it made...

and the NCAA won't fuck with it because they are cocksuckers...

but if the conferences really do align into superconferences, as it appears they are doing, they may force the issue.

I would actually love to see college football form superconferences...then tell the NCAA to fuck off...

but then we'd be stuck with these colleges running the show...

which would likely suck even MORE than the NCAA.

...but Notre Dame will eventually be a part of a conference...but it will be one that they pick, and one that they control. They have chosen sub-par football conferences to join in all other facets (big east, acc) just in case.

I do think there's a chance that the A.C.C. could disappear though...in ten years or so. I think the Big 10 will go after the big dogs in football there...and may make a run at UNC and Georgia Tech at some point...

and could see the SEC nab Miami and Georgia Tech themselves...

of course...it will be extremely fluid over the next ten years or so.

Notre Dame is going to get mercilessly buttfucked on national television for the whole world to see in about a month.

I know I'm the last person that should be in this gay assed thread but what was the deal with the tribute to sweater vest? Isn't he the reason your suck eyes aren't going to a bowl? It blows my mind that this team would have a tribute for that shady douche at all.

Besides...he owned MichiShit...so why not drag his fired carcass in front of the Queens?!?

Jim Tressel lied about some free tattoos. His ass was fired and the Buckeyes are ineligible for the title game this year.

Brian Kelly's gross negligence got a kid killed. He's playing for the national championship.

(btw, Tressel moved tOSU's practice inside that day)

You gotta love college football recruiting rankings...just to show you how full of shit these idiots are...

ESPN, who has historically had Ohio State the worst...has them at #5 in 2013 recruiting rankings (MichiShit at #6)...first time I've seen them ahead of the Queers from up North...

Rivals has Ohio State 8th (WolverWhores #5)...

Scout has Ohio State 7th (MichiSluts #1)...

Scout is always skewed, because they assign point to level of rank, and Michifucksticks have 24 recruits, so while their overall value of player is lower than most of the top ten, they have more points...

With all of that said, Ohio State has room for five-to-six more players...and their best recruits haven't signed yet. You'll see them in the top three by February...

...and that will be a yearly occurrence...

The NCAA will be voting on new recruiting rules in the beginning of January...that will lift some stringent rules...but will go after violations a lot harder...

Coaches will be more free to meet with players, and the dates will be universal...as opposed to visit limits (easier to enforce, but may open up to players getting KILLED by coaches calling)...

                    -Athletes to accept up to $300 per year beyond their own expenses to attend non-scholastic events, receive expenses and "reasonable benefits" associated with practices and competition with national teams, including tryouts;

                    -Schools to provide normal expenses, including travel expenses, for athletes representing the school at events such as goodwill tours and media appearances;

                    -Amateur teams or event sponsors to award money beyond an athlete's expenses based on the performance of that athlete or team in all sorts, not just tennis;

-Schools, conferences or the NCAA to pay for medical expenses and any related expenses for the athlete.

Those last rules seem a bit better than the prior rules...

                        Beginning this year!

                        Jalin Marshall

                        Joey Bosa

                        Ezekiel Elliott

                        Eli Apple

                        Von Bell

                        Cam Burrows

                        Mike Mitchel

                        Trey Johnson

                        James Clark

                        J.T Barrett

and the list goes on and on..

Because the coaches weren't allowed to interact with the players during "bowl season" as part of the NCAA's back-dated
punishment for tattoo-gate, Miller ran the team during off-season conditioning and went to work with that magic, "QB Whisperer" in San Diego recently.

That's the same guy who worked with Manziel last off-season while Johnny Casino was red-shirted to finish a couple more steroid cycles.

I don't care what anyone says...that kid has steroid acne from Hell.

The 2013 season belongs to THE Ohio State University.

                        Bet the motherfucking farm.

Jalin Marshall and Brax have been texting back and forth all season. Marshall will be a fucking human highlight reel waiting to happen.....Just wait and see.

OSU will be really good for a long time. Urban is one of the smartest guys in football and without breaking rules knows how to extend to get the most out of it. He is just a relentless recruiter. OSU has tradition, and a great community there supporting the program, he will win there.

Tressel had questions about kids with cars etc... before his demise and in the end what got him in trouble was the cover up of actual lesser issues. In the end OSU is in much better hands with Meyer.

The NCAA also needs to create an office for schools to submit waivers for items against the letter of the law but within the spirit. Several occassions at Notre Dame items like flights for funerals, a suit or a pair of shoes, real little stuff that is technically against regulations but due to a lack of response by the NCAA essentially schools are faced with do with what seems right and self report or do nothing.

Penalties need to be harsh and follow coaches when they leave programs. How many violations does Lane Kiffin get before you say enough. Its a slippery slope to add a process for excemptions but a more flexible set of rules that encourages dialogue before investigation is needed is needed to achieve best results for these kids. I think being flexible also allows the NCAA to be much more harsh with penalties.

Conference affiliation goes way beyond football. For Notre Dame outside of mens hockey the ACC is a better fit especially for lacrosse which is actually a pretty big sport for us. The women's programs also are a better fit. Notre Dame also has a great deal of cross pollination with ACC schools in terms of research. That academic side is overlooked a lot but remember conference affiliation is not an AD matter, it is a decision that rests mostly in the office of president at universities. Now add bad blood between Big 10 and ND officials it means that it is just a bad match despite the obvious football rivalry and geography. Plus ND has been built on a philosophy of being a national school so wrongly or rightly being locked in on the football to geography will always be a big hurdle.

I'm curious how the super confrences handle things has growing pains settle in. Plus as schools like Texas develop their own TV deals outside of conferences you may see the opposite happen and schools follow BYU path and go independent. Texas will be the most interesting case. Some schools with revenue bases significant enough can partner with others outside of confrences to free themselves. That comes with freedom as well as complications but it is something that will get talked about more in a few years as more high profile schools can command their own TV deals following the model lifted over from MLB. Either way I do feel you will see a significant wave of changes again in 2-5 years.

I agree and it applies directly to Tressel's case also. Now, I've never been one to completely buy into the line from JT that he was "scared" etc, etc. But he was in a bit of a pickle when he got tipped off about that federal investigation.

What I think the reasonable response would have been would be to contact the NCAA and say, look, I've heard about a potential federal investigation that might involve some of our players and some impermissable benefits. Let's let the feds conduct their investigation and then we can follow up and see if there are any NCAA rules violations. (This I think is reasonable because I would put federal criminal proceedings as a higher importance than some trinkets or tattoos). However, the NCAA would instead require them to stir up shit right then and there and suspend kids based on suspicion that they MIGHT have done something.

JT ultimately decided that the purported violations weren't important enough to report so he did NOTHING. That was his big mistake and ultimate undoing.

While I happen to agree with JT that it's a silly rule, he was not in the position to decide which rules were important and which were not. (You ought to be able to sell your own stuff. If not, don't give to them - which is ultimately a policy change that OSU's Athletic Dept made. The rule is trying to protect against a booster payment disguised as a sale - if they, for example, sold a signed pair of shoes for $50,000 to some big booster. In this case, though, it seemed to be fair value. The NCAA, though, doesn't want to be in the position of assessing fair value; so they make a blanket rule which punishes the players unfairly).

In the end, it may all have been a blessing, as it led to Urban's arrival in Columbus. He's got a lot of work to do to match or exceed Tressel, but I'm optimistic.
