Death - The Sound of Perseverance

anything by these guys or better said by Chuck Schuldiner is a masterpiece. This band is the best prove that the death metal genre isnt a total garbage.

          Some Bulletboys CDs.

Laways enjoyed them, even if it is a guilty pleasure...

Strapping Young Lad is more immediatley likeable, Devin's solo stuff usually grows on you, it's more challenging.

Even though the vocals on the song "Storm" are pretty flat at times, I like that one the best off that record.

I really love this record, it's such a great feelgood rock n roll album....

I can't stop listening to Still Life by Opeth.

THIS is a record that should be re-released with a dvd and bonus tracks, not Ghost Reveries

Binnie, I don't know why I didn't take your advice before. This band is incredible!

Yup. I rarely exaggerate about bands, and I am actually quite pessimisitc about the state of modern metal. It's nice that thrash is back, but we've heard it all before done heavier and better y'know?

But Mastodon and Gojira are taking it o new places, like Meshuggah did a few years ago. What sets Mastodon apart is the fluidity if their playing, and the ear for melody: it's actually listenable and takes you on a journey as well as being brutally fucking heavy.

I've seen them twice: they were really good opening for Tool, but at Wembley opening for Metallica ten days ago they were fantastic, several massive mosh pits started and they really owned the massive venue (there were 65,000 there.)

If you like Blood Mountain then listen to Leviathon, the record before: it is arguably even better!

Also, I would say that Machine Head's "The Blackening" is the best metal album I have heard in a long, long time. Seriously it blows the shit out of nearly everything for 15 years, and can trade punches with the classics.

                                Rock on Sparkie!
