Eric Clapton Fishes For a Longer Life

Eric Clapton Fishes For a Longer Life

Rocker Eric Clapton credits his relaxing fishing hobby with preserving his laid-back manner.

The 60-year-old spends all his spare time by the river-side with rod-in-hand - and he is convinced it is keeping him young and extending his life.

He says, "I love fly fishing. It is so different from what I do for a living that it's almost like meditation for me. I think that because I'm a country boy I need to get back in touch with the power of nature."

"The Chinese say that every day spent fishing is another added on to your life, which is nice to know."

I'll have to agree with old Slowhand on this one. Fishing is one of the most relaxing things you can do.

Ya know how I know the World isn't a fair place?

Ed and Dave refuse to take a stage together despite all the good music we know they'd make and Clapton still is alive!

      Its not fair!

C'mon Assvibe, that's uncalled for. Sure Clapton's put out a lot of boring assed music the last couple of decades, but he's getting back to his roots now. Did a couple of straight blues records (one with BB King) and now he's back with Cream, for however brief amount of time.

        Maybe that's a good sign?

Now, on the other hand, the fact that half the Beatles, half the Who, and 3/4 of the Ramones are dead while Rod Stewart sings goddamned Perry Como covers - that's the real tragedy

Ford...Just the mere thought of an Earth with SRV alive and Clapton dead makes me want to hate the guy.

My hatred of Clapton makes your hatred of the right look like a fucking childish day camp!

The ONLY work that's worth a shit that he's ever done was within a band! The Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos all rock and overshadow anything that fuck has done ever since!

It ok for him to make money off of his addictions and his dead kid because goof-offs like you are willing to pay for his shit. As far as his last "blues" projects...yeah, doesn't the killer always return to the scene of their crime? Same for that fuckstick with a guitar! He rode on BB King and Robert Johnson's coattails because he knew he'd have patsy's willing to throw their money and forgive him of his past bullshit!

Whatever point Rod Stewart plays? I dunno.

I value SRV higher than Clapton, but you can't deny he was one of the pioneers of rock music as we know it. That's why people see him as a legend.

If it wasn't for Clapton there would be less guitarists around and there wouldn't have been EVH (metaphorically) , possibly.

Yeah, I can deny that he was a pioneer.

              Robert Johnson

              Muddy Waters

              Howlin' Wolf

              Lightnin' Hopkins

Hell, even when compared to his contemporaries...Beck & Page he pales!

Now you want to say EVH is modeled after Clapton? Maybe fot "Finish What Ya Started"! That's got a limp-wristed Clapton feel to it all the way.

The only time Clapton plays anything meaningful is when somebody else is kicking him in the ass to play better. It doesn't last long because he has to work harder!

I gotta side with Doc in the big picture on this one.

I've never felt Clapton was very inspiring.

Mind you, I don't play guitar, but Clapton wouldnt even be in my top 10 reasons to pick it up.

I aint sayin the dude can't play, but he's no rock god.

                IMO, of course.

Yes. I'm not a fan, but sometimes I wonder.
Clapton on guitar is something unique...

                      That feel, man...

Page had THE feel. Listen to "Since i've been loving you". The choice of notes is just astounding!

                            The riff alone is fantastic!
