Nikki Sixx told that joke on BBC TV once! Well, it was edited between him and, it was either Bruce Dickinson or Rick Wakeman, it was a programme called 'When Rock Ruled The World'.
Apparently the whole drummers aren't as good as the guitarist thing (according to Rick Wakeman) started with the musicians union. Because the musicians union didn't view drummers as musicians.
There you go, learn something new everyday.

I've learned piano for 6 years (practicing for at least 1 hour EVERYDAY) and THAT made me a good musician... not the choice of my instrument!
What would be R & R without THE beat?
Try to imagine a concert without drums... ("Hot for Teacher", for exemple)?
Unless you are into easy listening (like Kenny G.), you absolutely NEED drums...
And if those stupid musicians think they can form a complete band without it, well... they should try and see where that will get them...?
