    I've got this on a boot called "Electric Motherfuckers"* (Kobra records), but I'm not sure it's the same version, though there are many chances (I think it's the same, but your link didn't lead to the song)... It's a rehearsal.
    It proves (once again) how the Stones work: Keith plays his composition with temporary lyrics until Mick comes up, and replaces them with his own a little later...
    Who would blame Mick? That's mainly the way they worked to create all those awesome tracks and albums...

    * The bootleg also includes, above all, "Brown Sugar" with Eric Clapton on guitar (recorded on Keith's 1970 b-day), "Sweet little rock 'n' roller" by Keith and Ronnie Wood's New Barbarians in 1979 (with a LONG intro by John Belushi who was incredibly stoned), and "Shake rattle & roll" played by Keith with Bob Dylan in Sevilla in 1992.

    "Love is strong" is a great number, maybe their last great one to date.

      The link works, you just probably copied and pasted it rather than clicking on it (the address is much longer than what it appears)

      It's probably the same version. I've heard another version with Mick singing non-sense lyrics as well.

      Another interesting boot is "You got the silver" from Let It Bleed...with Mick singing it...and it sounds strangely similar to the Keith original version.

        That's because it basically is. The Mick version was an earlier take from the Let It Bleed sessions. When it came time to do the final vocal for that track, wasn't in the studio, so Keith gave the song his best shot and it worked.

        As for this version of "Love Is Strong", there's actually a bootleg out there that has Keith singing the entire Voodoo Lounge album. Most of them are just partial guide vocals like this one. Just the rest of the band rehearsing while Mick was out of the studio apparently.

          You're right about the link and the song, BFS.

          BTW, on "Accidents will happen", a boot initially offering stuff from the "Emotional Rescue" sessions (including "Claudine", unreleasable kickass rockab' dedicated to the late 70s Canadian PM's wife who was a fervent Stone fan), there's a second disc with gems like:

          1) "I can see it", that they recorded c. 1966 after Lennon declared the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus";

          2) "You got the silver", the one you mentioned, with Mick on vocals;

          3) "Dear doctor", a different great version from "Beggars Banquet" (sounds live on TV);

          4) "Rotten roll" (a 10-mn instrumental jam, sounds great);

          5) "Fidji Jim", a fine rockab' song (rehearsal);

          6) "Misty roads" (a classic ballad, a little like "Tumbling dice", just a little faster);

          7) "I like it too much", a great rock song rehearsal with piano and Ronnie playing with a little Leslie;

          8) "Yellow cab", a kind of cousin to "Dead flowers", with Mick sounding very inspired, tongue-in-cheek and all;

          9) "Nanker Phelge" (Jagger/Richard's pen name in the early days), surely entitled as such by the bootlegger, is another country song.

          Tracks 4-9 must be from "Emotional Rescue" sessions.

          Together with "Dear doctor", "You got the silver" are the two gems (that have nothing to do with the "E R" sessions) of that boot. Everybody sounds great, sound quality is very good (especially that of "You got the silver").
          That song is one of Keith's very best.

            Thanks, I looked that one up. Very cool...I'll keep an eye out for 'em on Kazaa.

            And the others as well.

            I've heard Claudine! :D

              Claudine almost made the cut on Emotional Rescue, but was pulled at the last minute because Atlantic records didn't want to deal with the legal hassle.

              While Mick denied the song was about Claudine Longet (much like he's denying the current song "Sweet Neo Con" is about the BCE) the lyrics made it more than obvious....

              Now only Spider knows for sure
              But he ain't talkin' about it any more
              Is he, Claudine?

              There's blood in the chalet
              And blood in the snow
              (She)Washed her hands of the whole damn show
              The best thing you could do, Claudine

              Shot him once right through the head
              Shot him twice right through the chest
              The judge says (ruled) it was an accident
              Claudine
              Accidents will happen
              (In the best homes)

              I don't remember the details of the trial after 25 years, but I don't believe Longet did any hard time for the murder. Or should I say "accident"
