Jeff Beck supposedly got his sound from Ray Gomez, particularly from the song "West Side Boogie"...
i think Gomez is still bitter about the fact that Beck is the one who got all the critical acclaim...Comment

Well, me nizza! It's just a word I often hear about, and all I can understand is it's a video record the size of a dvd or cd, but which can be loaded with some longer content. I think DVX is very close to a DVD, mostly. You can play DVXs on most of today's DVD players.
But I'm wondering if you weren't kidding at my expense...
I want to make a standard DVD from it, though...Don't notice most of my posts are less than 2 lines...

I listened to Live with Jan Hammer's group again yesterday, and well, it's always like a new discovery... Jeff can really make his axe sound just like he wants it to.
And looking back it seems he has never stopped improving... I dig the direction he took from Guitar Shop. I see most of the stuff on Who Else and You Had It Comin' as the summit of a cycle that started on Blow By Blow thirty years ago (I'm inserting the record in my CD player right now!). And he plays it all just as masterfully on stage!
Not every musician can be said to have improved throughout their careers, I mean those who were already excellent in their early years, as Jeff was.

I have seen him live 2wice:
Had a backstage pass and 12th row seats in Kansas City, 1995 when he was opening for Santana.
Hung out with the band in the back lounge of the tour bus drinking bear and getting high while watching the best of John Belushi on video....
Did not get to meet The Great One though. Yes I was disappointed, but really cannot complain. Pino Palladino was playing bass for him on that tour, and Terry Bozzio was cool as hell. A truly nice guy who at one point stood there and talked to me for 20 minutes about music....
Then I saw him at the Ryman in March of 2001.
I think Jennifer Batten kinda muddied up the sound a bit, as she was constantly making her guitar sound like a keyboard.
Oh well.
I surely hope to see him again in the future.
Oh, and here is a bit of trivia....he played guitar on the album by Seal that had the hit song "Kiss From A Rose" on it.Comment

Bozzio and Palladino - can't ask for a much better rhythm section than that - caught that tour also - from where I was sitting, I could see Carlos Santana on the side of the stage watching Beck's fretboard for the whole set with a look of awe on his face.Comment

Where Were You is probably my favourite track from him....I had no idea it was coming from a guitar at first.....it's so emotive and awe-inspiring....you don't need flash to make a good track....but it still is really hard to pull off his tracks....ROTH ARMY YOUTUBE CHANNEL:
