Just got back from Yngwie FUCKING J. Malmsteen.
Only stayed for about an hour and then left.
1. Dude has lost some weight and looks good.
2. Can play as well as he ever did.
3. Brings nothing new to the table.
4. Incredible to watch...for about an hour.
5. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...............
This was the 4th time I have seen him. Possibly the last, unless he opens for someone I really want to see.
The mix got a bit better, but pretty much sucked ass.
Mostly due to the room and the location of the stage.
Oh well. At least I got to see some heavy music, in a couple of ways.
3rd time I have seen him in 4 years now. First time was 1986 opening for AC/DC.
Singer was great. Bass player could not be heard, keyboardist could be heard just a little, drummer could be seriously heard. Kickdrums were mud, sucking the life out of everything else in the mix.
So as a result it was mostly drums and vocals, and you could slightly hear Ygor doing his thing.
7 Stacks of Marshalls, with 1 head per cabinet (2 heads per stack).
Was standing outside getting high by the tour bus when a roadie opens the a luggage compartment underneath and hauls out a 200-watt Marshall Major head. Something ya do not see very much of.
Kinda neat.
End of review.
