Saw them in 90 with Vai and Vanderberg... 12th row on the floor in Cleveland. Simply blown away. Great guitar band.

Whitesnake was an excellent band. Hey, David Coverdale was even calling Judgement Day "Screw You, Robert Plant". And plus, Adrian Vandenberg made one hell of an excellent rhythm guitarist, but he doesn't get much credit

The performances on Whitesnake 1987 were above adequate, particularly Dunbar and Sykes, but the songwriting was of a pretty average fare...Crying In The Rain was okay...

Suppose I can't blame Coverdale for going the spandex route and doing an image makeover in the mid 1980s in order to get some MTV airplay...the bastard had been plugging away for over a decade at that point, and was known by rock fans the world over save for the USA, where he couldn't get arrested...

...Whitesnake 1987 had the advantage of coming out at a time when a younger generation of rock fans were discovering Led Zeppelin, and anything sounding Zeppelinesque got play (Kingdom Come, Robert Plant's Now and Zen, etc)...

Can't say that I think of it as classic, though. More of it being good in it's time than anything else.
