Pink Floyd- Is There Anybody Out There?

Just bought this yesterday, and it sure sounds nice. My only complaint so far is that they cut out some of Roger's onstage banter, which he seems to actually go out of his way to be a frontman rather than his stogy prick-self he could be on the Animals Tour.

And they also cut short the ironic MC Atmos (aka Gary Upman) intros just before "In The Flesh" which is hysterical the second time around. Sounds nice, even compared to the four bootlegs I have of the tour...

I don't have this. I've thought about purchasing it but there are so many excellent bootlegs out there so I haven't done it yet.

And I wonder if there can be a live more impressing than LIVE AT POMPEII. I'm speechless, it's so amazing.

It amazes me that most people don't even know this album exists. Probably because they saw the name "Pink Floyd" on it in the record store and assumed it was another Gilmour solo album posing as "Pink Floyd".

My only problem with this album is that they should have put it out as a DVD, especially given the fact that the "Wall" tour wasn't much of a tour at all, unless you lived in NY, LA, or London.

I bought it on the day it was released in 2000 I think, but I realise I've never listened to it properly (loud and both discs from beginning to end) now that you talk about it.
Thanks Nick for doing so, and enjoy it! It actually is lucky not to know it already. You'll still get the thrill of discovery despite your boots. Enjoy!

            I love this.

The best thing about it is that it contains a few extra bits that got cut out of the album (longer guitar solo in "Mother", "What shall we do now", "The last few bricks", extended intro on "The show must go on etc.).

I find it hard to listen to "The Wall" if I listen to this, it`s less erm...sterile than the studio album.

              This is great stuff.

The Wall is one of those masterpeice albums, IMO and Floyd was always such a great live band. So, naturally, The Wall live kicks ass.

When I first got this, I listened to it over and over again, but have not listened in some time and need to again.

Thanks for starting the thread, Nick.

This is really good, but Roger's version is really good too.

                The Scorps and Bryan Adams???

Only Roger could dream up bringing them in to sing his songs.

I uncovered The Wall Demos last year. It was really interesting to hear Roger's vision....as the demos were pretty much just him and a drummer and a very few other musicians....

I'm listening to the 1st CD again for the first time in two or three years. As loud as I can (that is as long as one of them doesn't come knocking, but they never do, safe to to join the party and have a drink :D).
I remembered it was excellent, but for some reason or other the set hadn't left its place for that long. Well, who doesn't know it's very serious music? The sound is awesome, and playing the songs on stage really was worth it: they pretty much stick to the studio tracks, but they aren't copy/paste versions like on much Floyd live stuff.

... Damn, "my" guitarist has just called me to remind me of tonight's rehearsal... I'll have to interrupt it.

I'm glad to go and sing, actually. A few years ago, with another band, we did "Another brick in the Wall" and "Comfortably Numb" (I dug it when we did the latter, the guitar player who played the two solos did them like wow!...

                      And "Outside the Wall."

That's why I wish they left in some of Roger's onstage banter, he really is a charismatic funny guy, despite his image. He deliberately lightens the mood before songs like "Run Like Hell" on the boots by talking about his "big pig"...

God this CD pissed me off. I HATE THE WALL!!!

Why can't their be a live release from the 72, 73, 75, or AHHHHHHH THE FUCKING 77 IN THE FLESH TOUR????

Animals is a masterpiece. The Wall gets on my nerves.

Sorry, I had to say it.

BTW, here's a link to the real Pink Floyd live album:
