Once I got to the age where things started to hurt for a few days rather than a few hours, I retired myself from the mosh. I still have my steel toed Dr. Martin boots with plenty of battle wounds on them.
Kerry King has pretty much played the same solo for 20 years! True, they ain't in Megadeth league of musicianship.

What I meant was that not that many band can play so fast, with so many times changes, and still sound tighter than hell. I was talking about the musicianship of the band as a whole, sorry I should have clarified.

It's amazing how you can go back to all the vintage Sabbath stuff and it's still sounding heavy! Even by today's standards. The opening riff to "War Pigs" is stunningly heavy, considering the song was recorded 30+ years ago...

It's true. About 5 years ago on a Sabath tribute album, Robb Flyn of Machine Head said that they had to do something inventive with their cover of "Hole in the Sky" because it was impossible to out heavy Sabbath...

Good call, although I think "Metal Gods" is the heavist thing they have done, you know that bit just before the chorus where the soldiers march in the background.....

            Fuckin metal!

I agree. As a matter of fact every time I listen to "Angel of Death" and it gets to the solo I press the "next" button on my cd player. BTW that song is pretty heavy too.

They surely aren't. Megadeth is the world's state of the art speed metal band, period.

Well I know that Megadeth definitely has a lot of musicianship. I saw them open for Motley Crue back in '01. Of course musicianship wise they blew Motley off the stage. They were very tight and sounded great. Peace Sells is probably my favorite Megadeth album. I learned some of "Conjuring" and it's pretty heavy stuff. As far as speed goes I don't know if there's anybody that can play as fast as Slayer. But as far as other aspects of musicianship you're probably right. I also like their "Youthanasia" album.
