Zakk !!
Only coz I love original Ozzy, and Zakk carried the flame for
as long as he could....
Those who have seen his live intepretations of Randy's
solos will know what I mean.
He never tried to pull em off note perfect, but the
integrity, feel and respect was still there...
But he never wrote anything of his own that was worth shit.

Why do you have to pick one or the other?

while I think both of them are great as guitarists, I'll have to go with Dime because I prefer Pantera....
it's too hard to choose just based on guitar skill because in my opinion they've got similar, agressive styles...ROTH ARMY YOUTUBE CHANNEL:

Dime is one of my greatest metal guitar heroes of all-time. So this is really a no-contest... And I always think Zakk is THE prime candidate to win most polls if it were about OVER-RATED GUITARIST of our times..I know some people say the same thing about Dime, but I just think he was light years ahead of Zakk by every standard in my book.
I'm one of Pantera's biggest fans ever and Dime's amazing guitar heroism on those terrific Pantera records is one major reason why I got hooked on that band. His white-hot fiery riffs, superb groovy sound and tone, the sexy virtuosity, the powerful passion and originality, and loads of other things that make me admire Dime's guitar wizardry to this day..I'll forever miss and mourn his tragic passing.
And to those guys that say Dime got all the adulation only after/because he was slain, I'd simply say that you are just freakin' ignorant and outright liars...Maybe they only got into Pantera after Dime died, when it dawned on them who and what we all really lost...Point is, Dime had already established his stellar reputation as the hottest axeman in the Metal community long before he was slain. Dime and Pantera had single-handedly carried, nay saved, the entire decade ('90s) for Metal...And I'm really proud and grateful for that..
I never regarded Zakk Wylde too highly at any rate...Sure, he's no guitar wimp...Decent player, impressive and fun when he has his brief moments of magic, that's all, no more no less. His work with Ozzy solo is mostly stuff that I neither much like nor respect... And I can't begin to describe, in text, exactly what I feel about Zakk's totally trashy embarrassment he calls BLS (Black Label Society).
On another note, I'm no guitarist myself or technical wizard on the topic, but I've heard countless times, even among some of Zakk's most avid cheerleaders, that his excessive penchant for the so-called 'pinch harmonics' in his playing drives a lot of his fans mad as hell..Could be one reason why Zakk often gets trashed a fair bit even by his most loyal backers...
So yea, Dime wins my vote on this poll, or almost any other poll on guitarists, except one that has EVH on it...HaLast edited by trueblue; 09-27-2006, 06:44 AM.Music is like girlfriends to me; I'm constantly amazed at the choices other dudes make----DLRComment
