"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992
Originally posted by FORD For the record, I voted off Keith Emerson. I never thought ELP were remotely "cool".
Are you kidding?
In the 70`s, ELP were one of the most decadent rock bands in the world.
Like most of the progressive bands of the era, their influence has been buried by the post punk press.
I know it`s a question of personal taste but I view those guys as "artists" rather than mere "musicians".
Articulated lorries with their names on the roof, touring with an orchestra and entourage of 160 people (including a judo teacher), spinning pianos, two tonne steel drum kits, taking a side of a double album each leaving the other for band compositions, getting HR Giger (designer of the "Alien") to do your album cover, writing a concept album about an armoured Armadillo, Emerson`s keyboard removal man from hell routine, headlining the `74 California Jam above Black Sabbath and Deep Purple...
...all of these things and more make ELP cool in my book.
