Riders on the Storm: Live In Manchester

    SET (ish):
    Intro (Carma Burana)
    Roadhouse Blues
    Break on Through
    Love Me Two Times
    When The Music's Over
    Alabama Song
    Back Door Man
    5 to 1
    Spanish Caravan
    The Changelling
Touch Me (Dedicated to James Brown)
    People Are Strange
    Not To Touch The Earth
    Wild Child
    LA Woman
    -------
    Peace Frog
    Light My Fire

Absolutley brilliant. I initially had misgivings aboot The Doors without Jim, but everything worked. Of course, its not The Doors and the name sounds like a tribute band, but that was definatley in the top 5 gigs I've ever been to. For some people, once you have it...you just don't lose it

I find it hard to imagine too, but on SP's recommendation it's gotta be worth a listen...

I have yet to find a doors tribute band do a rendition of "Soft Parade". Guess I'll have to start a band and have a go at it myself.

From the very first time I heard The Clut (yes I spelled it right dammit! ) I thought Ian Astbury was Jim Morrison's bastard stepchile....

I surely would love to see this...but they seem to have no interest in playing Gnashville....

They do have a DVD called "LA Woman Live" under the name "The Doors of the 21st Century", which is great for seeing what they're like, and Ian certainly posses Jim-esque qualities.

There were representitives from every living generation there, which shows how powerful The Doors' music was, and still is. And, sure, it's just nostalgia for most, but there are so many people who never got the chance to hear this music played by the people who wrote it. If this is the only chance you have, I'd rather have them playing than not. Any cynics out there haven't been there and heard the opening bars of "Roadhouse Blues"...it seriously gives you goosebumps. At the end, Ian asked everybody to try and help them play Glastonbury. If they got on the bill, I would certainly go (especially considering that The Who have also been announced to be playing).

Well, I was very ill. Then, I wasn't. Then I had a sandwich, but it wasn't very nice. And I had a little bit too much to drink the other night, and the hangover seemed to hang over forever.

                But other than that...fine, thanks.

Does that count as a tribute act (or even playing a song)?

If so, BITEYOASS has got what he's always wanted and more.

See? Dreams really DO come true.

                      Yeah, it`s a good DVD.

I don`t mind Krieger and Manzerek doing their thing as there are plenty of Doors tribute bands making a good living out of their work.

I din`t get to see the show myself, but my friend went and he said it was like a celebration of the Doors music rather than trying to recreate The Doors.

Exactly what it was. As I said, it may be mainly nostalgia, but its something you may never see again, at least not in the UK. If they are going to tour, I think they're doing it the right way. If they tried to re-create The Doors, it wouldn't come across properly, it would leave you dazed and slightly cuntfused. Ian isn't Jim, and he shouldn't pretend to be.

No, I really was ill. But, I think I've survived.
