Just wonderin what everyone's oppionion is on the current music scene. I for one am sick to absolute death of seeing how 98% of mtv's shows are rap/r&b-influenced, how there's virtually no new good music at all on the radio, shitty songs and albums continue to chart and to dominate while far better stuff barely gets noticed or at least not the recogznition it deserves. The majority of kids i know aren't into rock much, and the stuff they are into is just mainstream bullshit. There is absolutely no appreciation at all for talent any more, and that is why a pansy ass band like nickleback does so well. Don't get me wrong, there's bands out there that I dig such ranging from Disturbed to Godsmack to Coldplay to Incubus to Wolfmother.....that shit has talent (imo). But fact of the matter is, talent is stretched waaaay to far thin and there just aren't enough good bands showing up. There are plenty of talented guitarists i suppose, but the majority are in death shred bands that i just can't get into, such as Children of Bodom or Killswitch or Trivium. Guitar playing is good, i just don't dig screaming. When will rock have a resurgence, will it ever happen again any time soon? Will we continue to wallow in this endless abyss of shit poluting our well-tuned ears? Listening to some of the rap out there is an insult to my intelligence...it was fine for a few years, yeah ok there's a new fad out it will pass. But it isn't passing, and it just pisses me off that people actually like that shit. Can i get a witness??
Any hope for good rock to reclaim the mainstream?

I've got big hopes for a couple of bands.
First off, I've got a good feeling that Candlebox's upcoming release is going to be worth the money. They're really hyped on getting real rock music back to the front. And this time, they're not with a record company who tries to make them something that they're not.
Secondly, Hinder is sounding real good to me with this latest record. There is some great guitar work in the tunes that are reminscent of the importance of a great lead guitar of the 80's."If our country is worth dying for in time of war let us resolve that it is truly worth living for in time of peace." - Hamilton FishComment

I don't care that you don't like Candlebox."If our country is worth dying for in time of war let us resolve that it is truly worth living for in time of peace." - Hamilton FishComment

Last nite there was a 2 hour Bad Company & Paul Rodgers special on the radio."With a rate of fire of over 20 rounds per second, the IMI Micro Uzi is almost as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen, and 25.4 times more musical"
Worst of all... It's true..Comment
