Velvet Revolver finish mixing new album

VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum revealed during this past weekend's Camp Freddy Radio broadcast on Los Angeles' Indie 103.1 FM that the band has finished mixing its second album, "Libertad".

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland told MTV.com last week that the new CD "definitely still rocks, but it's incredibly more musical. There's a lot more textures, and Slash and Duff [McKagan] have really sort of risen the bar. It just goes places that the first album didn't go."

Weiland and Slash will give the induction speech for honorees VAN HALEN during the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, set to unfold inside New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel on March 12. VELVET REVOLVER will also perform at the event in VAN HALEN's place (the group has apparently rehearsed a version of "Ain't Talking About Love", according to Sorum), although it's not presently clear if all the members of the latter band will be present to accept the honor.

VELVET REVOLVER is slated to tour South America with AEROSMITH this April.

Reading that it will be more "musical" translates to "self-indulgent" to me....

    I hope it's not a full on wank-fest....

Fingers crossed though: I want a raw, bluesy record that stripped down so it grooves better...

              Oh, grow the fuck up.

I'm pretty sure if Dave did a shitty version of a song by a band you like it wouldn't stop ya buying his stuff.

Wasn't knocked out by the rest of Contraband, which I bought after hearing Slither, so may have to listen to a bit of it pirate-style first before buying.

That album is more of a grower.

                          Does it matter?

                          They're not a tribute band.

The first album was nothing special. Wasnt HORRIBLE, but after a few weeks I've never played it again. Part of it is I cant stand Weiland, but even Slash(who I've always been a big fan of)'s playing bored me. No one's gonna remember this band in 20 years as anything but a GNR offshoot with 0 memorable songs....

Weiland had some good albums with STP.

I liked the song Set Me Free from VR's first disc muchly.

I'm not expecting much but I'll give the new one a listen.
