Compared to the later albums - absolutely.
I get your arguments completely. Sure the first album is the best they could do at the time - can't blame them if they don't "have it" yet. They shouldn't.
I know the October story (didn't the lyric notebook turn up a year or two ago. I thought I re.ad that somewhere) - again, not their fault that the album isn't tight.
I'll split with you on War, though. I know a lot of people love it but I just don't get that one. '40' is good, and Sunday's alright (though the Rattle & Hum version is superior) but that's about it. The rest of it doesn't connect with me the way middle and late era stuff does.

Who talks aboot Van Hagar?
I cun't think of anyone except Spammy Gaygar and three inch cock.
Well, technically, if you say "van hagar sucks fetid donkey's cock" you're still - in a sense- rating them. And qualitatively speaking, you're overrating them.
Don't even try to knock the Stones live in any way! Sloppy? Yeah, back then, but goddamn I love bands that are a little sloppy live. We're not talking Led Zep sloppy and shitty live. Take a listen to Keith rocking the FUCK OUT on Little T&A from their concert movie, Let's Spend the Night Together (1979). If someone can find it on You Tube, please attach, since I haven't figured out how to do You Tube stuff yet.
C'mon...I know that they can hide behind a good producer and that you have the talent to come up with the song and all but still...live, they're all over the place sloppy.
The Eagles. Never got it, never will. Joe Walsh wrote a smash hit regarding his involvement with the non-hard-rocking-fuckers.
This ain't it.
On a Trent Reznor Friday... Cool-Whip in my hair
Corndogs and burritos, rising up through the air
Starting guard for the Pistons has never met Bobby Knight
My bread was levened and my beard was trimmed...
I have a slight overbite
I've never seen all of "Porkies," or owned a Packard Bell
And I was thinkin' to myself,
"If I could breakdance, man that would be swell."
Then I beat up a Chancellor, and I sprayed him with mace
You could hear them down the corridor... playing Ace of Bass
Welcome to the hotel. Now, to porn ya.
It's a rugby place. Here's my cello case.
There's plenty of room at the hotel. Now, I'll warn ya:
You can have a beer, but you'll lose an ear.
Her mom is Tiffany's sister. She quotes from mid-eighties bands
"Do you know NSync or Backstreet Boys?" "Well, that depends."
Bagger Vance is a retard. Sweet, smelly fat.
Some "Dance Fever" members haven't gotten past that.
So pulled out the Pac-Man. Beat through it just fine.
I said, "I haven't got my nipple pierced since 1969."
And still those oysters are crawlin', so flog away.
Made you burp in the middle of a fight... just to hear them say...
(chorus)
(break)
Pickles on the ceiling. I think Amway's alright.
and she said, "we are all just Presidents... here, have a fudge delight."
and in the pastor's manger, they'd rather have roast beef.
They cut it with their silly knives but they just can't cut the meat.
Last thing I remember... I was running door to door.
Knocking as I passed them by, then I'd hide behind the porch.
"Relax," said the nightgown, "we are clothes used to conceal."
You can shuffle any time you like, but you can never deal.

Always thought Joe looks uncomforatable with The Eagles, like he wants to move.

And now, from the second best performance of US Fest 83.....
