They do kick ass when they are on form, but 2 of the 3 times I've seen them they sucked balls live, largely due to poor sound and their decision to go on long aimless jams rather than playing songs.

I love the first three albums, and parts of "Lullabies..." were strong too, but I have to say that I am finding it really difficult to get into their new record. "Rated R" is their best album, in my opinion...

On a related subject, I can't wait for the new "Eagles of Death Metal" album to be released. :D

I saw them open for NIN on Halloween of 2005.

        They sucked.

        I was so bored.
        Generic uninspiring radio rock.

But that is just my opinion.

Yeah, I think they're a band that's very hit and miss live....

Never thought much of them. It always disappionted me that someone that came from a band as awesome as Kyuss formed such a boring, radio-friendly band.

Is suppose that after Kyuss, anything would be a disappointment :D

Kyuss is the shit. Period........The only other thing I like much from that group of guys is John Garcia's Hermano. Their stuff is spotty but most of it kick's the shit out of Queens IMO.

Hermano is good stuff, but like you say a little patchy.

I really like the first QUOTSA album, it's not radio-rock at all. I also dug "Rated R" and parts of "Songs for the Deaf" but they seem to have lost fire-power since. Josh's voice is also very limited, which restricts what they can do as a band.

But compared to Kyuss, they sound like fucking carol singers! :D

It's truth...but at least Fu Manchu is back to normal.
