Decent bands in the last 5 years that broke up!

With all the shit that is put out these days, you come accross some good stuff every once in a while. Bands that recently broke up in the last year or so:

The Darknes - Good rock, reminds me of the 80's, but still good shit.

Injected - More on the harder side, 70's hard rock meets Nirvana style.

Social Burn - Rock N' Roll with a little pop.

        Audioslave......

Yeah, I know they never lived up to the hype, but it was still a great collection of talent.

And lets hope they get back to their real bands again and make a comeback.

I'd agree, the first album showed real potential and then it was a rapid decent.

              System Of A Down.

Yes, I know that some of you loath them, but that's OK. Great bands have to be hated as well as loved - music is about getting a reaction out of people, and some people are going to react positively, and others negatively.

This band was great because no one else sounded like 'em. Ever. I heard a lot of Faith No More and Bad Brains in there, but the overwhelming Easter European influences in the melodies made them a metal band that really stood out. Raw, heavy, intense and covering a range of emotions I am pretty pissed that we'll probably never get another album from them again.

And I'll second, third, fourth AND fifth The Darkness.

They could've been great, if they'd stuck with the AC/DC-side of rock a little longer. (And stayed clear of the keytar... )

I never liked The Darkness. They were fun, but do you honestly think if theyd been around in 1985 anyone would have given a shit?

It's the vocals that ruin it for me - makes them sound like a novelty act.

But if you guys dig 'em, cool by me. Horses for courses I guess....

Shit, even if you take the vocals away, they were a good band.

(although, after hearing those songs again, the vocals could've been a little more "masculine", if you know what I mean and I think you do.)

Yeah, I'd probably have liked 'em a lot more had the vocals been different. Added to that, I was working in a record store when they broke big - hearing the same record 5 times a day for 2 months will kill it for you....

Overexposure will kill almost anything. (except Coldplay, for some reason... )

Never quite saw the big deal about the Darkness.

STP finally called it a day in 2002. Was kinda bummed about that, because I really didn't start getting into them big time until about 1996 or so, and never got around to seeing them live.

Have a feeling they'll get together again sometime down the road, though. Mostly because Velvet Revolver sucks donkey dicks.
