Thanks.... I'd never heard that version of the album before.

And now that I have..... I gotta wonder what the Hell they were thinking with those edits.

I'd actually heard that mix of "Miss You" years ago. They should have made that the official album version. Same with that version of "Beast of Burden". I don't think adding an extra minute to each side of the record would have pushed the limit on the vinyl. And in either case, I can't believe Virgin didn't use these versions when they released the remastered "Some Girls" CD in 1994. I'll assume Universal didn't use them either, but I'm boycotting those discs because of the whole "censoring StarFucker" business.

As for the mess they made out of "Shatterred"....... WHY?

I believe the re-issues are the result of a recent label shuffle for the band.

I would say proper digital remasters aren't a bad thing. Definitely a step-up from the 1986 releases. Were the 1994 releases a digital master or not? Remastering had started then but wasn't huge yet.

Is that version of Miss You the one where talks about how girls will just come and go, they're just like streetcars? I prefer that version to the original anyday.

Classic thread FORD! Thanks for the rarities.

the '86 (CBS) remasters were meh. i don't mind the Virgin ones, i think they said digitally remastered...i have all my cases in storage and can't look.

i really don't have any need for the Universal versions, but i need to finish my collection of the ABKCO dual discs.

40th Anniversary special edition multi format release – including the entire concert for the first time ever (incl. support acts B.B. King + Ike & Tina Turner), 5 unreleased tracks as an extra EP and a DVD with never before seen footage & extras.

Also the Stones are apparently working on a Deluxe edition of Exile. I hope they put a live concert as disc 2 (Brussels Affair anyone?).

I'll believe it when it's in my hands, and it's already WAY too late, but this is still great news. Rolling Stones 1969-1973 > most any other band.
