I also disagree that Van Wolfie with Dave will have an opportunity to tour big arenas and stadiums anytime in the near future. Another nostalgia tour and they'll be competing with the Wabo's for small venues, casinos and county fairs.
    Disagree on Mike's status Zah...

I think if Mike was asked back, for whatever reason (Wolf's college, etc) Mike would come back... The money is just too good.... I also think that a REAL reunion would surpass the '07-'08 tour...

I maintain, as I have since Wolf was named the bassist, that Ed's ONLY reasoning was that he wanted his son in the band, plain and simple.... I think that Mike's playing with Bette on gigs here and there merely gave Ed a convenient excuse to have Wolf as the bassist... So instead of Ed saying, "I want my son in the band", he's always said "He's in another band".....

I don't think there's nearly the amount of ill will that is being portrayed....

Good points VA. Under that scenario I could see potentially Mike coming back into the fold if Wolfgang bowed out or there was a "real" reunion for limited gigs.

I'd doubt Mike would bail on Chickenfoot for VH... there's nothing really on the horizon before this winter for even studio work to begin with Van Halen. That may be overly optimistic at best...

I'd be happy as hell if Van Halen got off their lazy asses and started working again!! But being a realist and betting man... I'd put $20 on Jiminy Cricketfoot delivering another album and tour in 2010 before Dave's spotted at 5150 again... VH time makes dog-years look like nano-seconds...

It depends on how hungry Hagar is for money and spotlight, no matter how Hagar likes Chickenfoot he knows his not going to get booked in any big venues at less he rejoins Van Hagar, Your also know where Hagar goes MA is going to follow.

It would be great and a good idea for VH to get into the studio to record a new album, but at longs it's Dave and Eddie on the same stage, they'll going to get booked in the big arenas and stadiums and sell out shows. You'll never see MA where Hagar is not; with also the point being MA doesn’t like Dave.

I don't see money as part of the equation for Hagar... he sold controlling interest in his tequila business for $80 million a couple years ago. Between the remaining 20% and his resturants/bars he's set and wouldn't have to tour or record again... unfortunate for us he isn't ready to retire yet.

But the plus side is... the more sucksessful Hagar is, the further it keeps him away from Van Halen. I say keep the fat bastard happy wallowing in his Chickenshit like a pig in mud.

Then hopefully the VH Partridge Family featuring Diamond Dave will kick it into gear... before we're all retirement age...

So Sammy doesn't own the piss Tequila anymore?

They should get into the studio to release a new album, but the VH family are having a busy year.

                  This is a Great Thread.

First off, Chickenfoot is not nor will ever be Classic VH.
The 2004 tour proved that hagar doesn't have the draw that DLR does. In 2008, they sold out everywhere.
Hagar has made himself look like a complete ass in the last 6 years. Comparing themselves to Zepplin?? LOL

I think MA would go back too on even footing. He was paid less on the 04 tour than the others, not sure why??
But that kind of coin, he'd put up with DLR for it I'm sure. One last chance to cash in. Who wouldn't???
How many other bands have we seen this happen with over the years. Too many to list.

Chickenshit is just a flash in the pan, Chickenshit albums will never compare to sales from any of the albums from the 6-pack and will never get any bigger venues besides casinos, clubs and small outdoor concerts, while VH with Dave has and always will get the big arenas and stadiums selling out night after night.

If Eddie knows fans want CVH why hasn't he given it to us yet? So far it's the same old bullshit since 1986 just with Dave singing now. They got a free hall pass on this last tour because us fans have quenched for the thirst of Roth back with Ed. It was like their version of Plant/Page. They're going to have to deliver in a big way and quite frankly I don't think Ed or Dave have it in them. Even if they do Mike's playing and singing won't be on there so it's going to leave a giant black hole in VH's sound on record.

Mike doesn't need the money....if Mike came back it would be more about recapturing the magic of CVH but since Ed, Al and Dave are such a couple of major tools I doubt it will ever happen.

I also don't think bringing Mike back would upstage the '07-'08 tour. As most VH fans are too fucking dumb to tell the difference between real CVH and this sham Ed, Al and Dave were flying around last year. It turns out I gave the band and alot of fans waaaay too much credit.

I think you're wrong there. Ed's pissed off at Mike....who knows why...probably for taking Roth's side in some band arguement back in 1980......he cuntinues to be pissed off at him because he remained friends with Sam while Ed is still pissed off at Sam

                            Ed's a douchebag

I think this thread starter wrote it pretty horribly and came off like a moron, but he does have a good point hidden away.

Sammy makes money from tequila - he doesn't need Van Halen for that. Cabo Wabo's a round-the-year success so probably shifts as much merch as VH do because they keep selling even on a night Sammy's not playing, so he doesn't need merch sales. And now he has Chickenfoot he has a band with an incredibly good guitarist and songwriter - the one thing he may have missed by being in the not-that-technical-really Waboritas. I think we can safely say Van Halen can't use the "well fine, we'll go work with our OTHER singer" prank they pulled on Sammy in '96 when they dropped him for Roth.

I don't think this means in VH forever though. Just less likely to leave. Roth loves the spotlight and will do anything to remain there now I think, but Van Halen...Eddie's always been a bit of a withdrawn character, and Alex is just his bitch ultimately. Wolfgang seems willing to remain in the band but after the way he looked on stage on the last tour I doubt he's jumping up and down demanding Eddie tour. If Roth annoys the VH family, I can see the VH machine quietly shutting down because they seem happy enough to bask in their own legacy.

Chickenfoot couldn't fill an arena anywhere in the states, gauranteed! And the people that DO go to see them are the few that like Shamu's generic rock voice or Joe's guitar technique.

Oh, and I think some of the anti-Chickenfoot posting in here's kinda stupid.

Fair play, claim Chickenfoot's not big enough or good enough to satisfy Sammy if you want. But the way people are just insulting the band is...dull. I don't care and can't be bothered to read it, but it gives me things to skip past. "Chickenfoot are crap" isn't really relevant to the discussion here - it's off-topic spam. Knowing if Van Halen no longer have a back-up plan is. We know from '96 that part of why they threw out Sammy was knowing they had Roth in the wings. That makes this a legit discussion.
