      I found some quick summary details from their Rockline appearence yesterday:

      +++++++++++++++++++++

      For the ones who didn't hear the interview yet, on the official forum, a member called TroySpringer (thanks dude!) took some notes during yesterday's RockLine show with Steve and Janick.

      He wrote this:

      1. Brand New Stage

      2. Final Frontier Eddie is still Eddie in their minds

      3. Similar Writing Credits to AMOLAD

      4. FF has More Time Changes and More “Proggy” (as Steve said)

      5. Live DVD in a year or two (probably)

      6. Steve is 100% self taught on bass

      7. Steve says they will be around in the future. (Caller) Does final frontier mean the last album or can we expect more maiden albums and tours (Steve) “We will hopefully have a new album out again soon”.(Caller) “so are you going to tour again” (Steve) Yes we will tour this year next year.. and the year after that and the year after that as Rod would have it.” (not exact but i did my best)

      8. They would consider playing in a festival in the US (Rod will probably make it happen)

      9. Steve’s favorite song is Hallowed be They Name

      10. They played the Wicker Man US Promo version with backing vocals found that intresting. (if you don’t know what I am talking about here is a link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tC6AjkJU7hY

      11. They like Kevin Shirley as a producer, they feel like he gets the right Maiden sound

      12. Bob Coburn (host) thinks maiden fans are a family more than any other band (why i love maiden so much and the FC!)

        Gotta admit, Caveman has done them right. In fact, I recall something about the last album...it was said by someone the mixes were so good they did not even bother mastering the album....supposedly there was no need. Or, else there was almost nothing done to the mixes in the mastering process.

        I loved Martin Birch's production though. Sure would be nice if he would come out of retirement and do another Maiden album with them.

          Just a quick note about the first show tonight.

          Seems they just did some soundchecking at the Venue.

          +++++++++++++++++++++
          According to someone on the Maiden board, "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns" from AMOLAD was overheard today while they warming up.
          ++++++++++++++++++++

          Not exactly one was was thinking they would do, BTATS is over 8 minutes long. Maybe the rumors of them breaking out some more songs from 2000-2006 were true?

          Guess we will find out later tonight.

                    Here ya go.... Not a bad setlist, would love to hear "Wasted Years" and "2 Minutes to Midnight", but oh well.....

                    British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN kicked off their "The Final Frontier World Tour" last night (Wednesday, June 9) at the at Superpages.com Center in Dallas, Rexas.

                    The band's setlist was as follows:

                    01. The Wicker Man
                    02. The Ghost Of The Navigator
                    03. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
                    04. El Dorado
                    05. Paschendale
                    06. The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
                    07. These Colours Don't Run
                    08. Blood Brothers
                    09. Wildest Dreams
                    10. No More Lies
                    11. Brave New World
                    12. Fear Of The Dark
                    13. Iron Maiden

                    Encore:

                    14. The Number Of the Beast
                    15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
                    16. Running Free

                    Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be viewed below.

                    IRON MAIDEN's much-anticipated new studio album, "The Final Frontier", will be released in North America on August 17 (one day earlier internationally) via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), the centralized U.S. catalog and special markets entity for Universal Music Group. The CD features artwork (see below) illustrated by Melvyn Grant.

                    The band reunited with long-time MAIDEN producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in early 2010 at Compass Point Studios, Nassau to record the album and then moved to The Cave Studios in Malibu, California to finish the recording and do the mixing. Compass Point Studio is very familiar to the band, it was where they recorded the "Piece Of Mind" (1983), "Powerslave" (1984) and "Somewhere In Time" (1986) albums.

                    30 years on from their eponymous debut album in April 1980, "The Final Frontier" will be MAIDEN's 15th studio album, making a remarkable average of a new album every two years for 30 years and totaling over 80 million album sales during this period.

                      Wow, I can't believe so much of the set list was from 2000-2006. They weren't kidding I guess. If you missed the BNW, DoD or AMOLAD Tours from 00-06, well then I guess you get to catch up.

                      Most that were going to just hear the hits will be pretty let down.

                      Interesting to see Running Free back in after they hadn't played it for a few years. I would have rather had Sanctuary for a closer.

                      Shocked about no 2 miuntes, Wasted Years, Aces High or Run to the Hills. BUT they did set the presedent for leaving out big hits back on the 2006 Tour.

                      I would also think that this will just be the set list for Summer 2010. When they do a proper "Final Frontier" tour I am sure they will add more brand new stuff and maybe bring a few old ones back.

                        Fuck that. I'm glad I didn't pay to see that. Not that it's bad but I want to hear the older stuff.

                          It's a bold move to be so reliant on newer stuff. Plenty of respect.

                            I don't know. Maiden has not had much balance lately. It is either all old or all new depending on the tour.

                            I thought they might go for a more career spaning set list on this tour, old and new.

                                Well, to Iron Maiden from bueno bob, one big middle finger salute on that setlist.

                                Guess I'm not going to Auburn after all. At least they saved me a bit of cash.
