SACHA BARON COHEN To Play FREDDIE MERCURY In QUEEN Movie
"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992
At first I was like what? He's a clown. But he is in essence a character actor so he can probably handle portraying Freddie Mercury. I just caught part of Bruno on HBO, he does do a convincing job of playing a homosexual, just sayin'... Start re-growing that mustache!
If they're still serious about making this movie, they need to quit fucking around with idiots like Borat, and get this guy signed up. He looks AND sounds like a young Freddie.....

That was awesome!! If they don't use that dude for the on-screen role, he should at least do the voice overdubs for the singing! It almost makes you think about reincarnation...
As for Cohen, I have a hunch that he's probably a better actor and has more range than most give him credit for. The problem is that he's become so pigeon-holed into stupid parody movies and lemur voice-overs that nobody can visualize him doing anything else.
Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised....

I really miss Freddie Mercury.
If I helped Jesus fix a flat tire on the side of the road and he told me I could wish anyone back from the dead I would say Freddie Mercury without a seconds worth of hesitation...
I'd choose Freddie over Lennon, Dio, Rhodes, Bon Scott, Elvis...
Queen's Brian May recalls that Mercury could hardly walk when the band recorded "The Show Must Go On" in 1990. "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing,' " May says. "And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' — vodka down — and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal."
