....You could read a million books, you can graduate from the most prestigious university with honors, but you can never be articulate enough to explain how much someones music has meant to you, and your life....
I mean....I could go on at length how much this person and his music has meant to me, but it's a strictly a bandwidth issue.
It's seen me through the darkest times of my entire life.
In 1993, I lost my fiancee to a drunk driver exactly 14 days before our wedding. You can easily tell from reading my posts here that I'm not what you'd call a "sane, stable individual", when it happened, I wanted to kill the world and everyone in it. Despite the thousands of dollars and hours I spent in therapy as a result, I never would've made it through without John and his music.
And whenever our government does something mind-numbingly stupid that makes my hands ball into fists (which is quite frequently lately), I just heed the words of John Lennon..."when the government has your mind in a mode to fight, then they know how to deal with you".
How do you even begin to thank someone for all of that?
I have no idea, but to say a simple heartfelt "thank you" is a start, I guess...
For having the absolute privilege of enjoying your music, and living by its message. Both of which will live on forever....
Happy 70th Birthday John Lennon!
