I don't hate the 80's; the Roth/Van Halen 80's-era didn't suck. The 80's as a whole was multi-faceted and its difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff and there was a lot of chaff in the 80's.

Van Halen with Roth were the bomb.

Just because assclown 80s pop metal bands like Poison cite CVH as a source of inspiration doesn't somehow vault them into the same league as CVH. If anything, it's embarrassing as a fan of CVH to see such shite bands as Poison and the like trying to hitch their credibility onto the CVH wagon.

There were plenty of bands who tried in varying degrees to emulate CVH in the 1980s. Precious few got even close, and Poison sure as fuck weren't one of them.
