A Message To Metallica

I read that their (Metallica) next album is going to be a collaboration with ancient rocker Lou Reed. WTF? -

Metallica, they're done, and have been done since Justice, actually. I just always held out a little hope they would do another album in the vein of those early albums, but I don't think it's ever going to happen at this point.Comment

I agree Little T, Metallica is past their expiration date but they're not the only ones (Stones, Kiss, Aerosmith etc). Their coupling w/ Lou Reed is a real sink or swim prospect, no middle ground."Nothing gets a yak over a suspension bridge faster than 'Back in the Saddle Again' by Aerosmith" ~ DLRComment

Well, I haven't been around here much the last several months, so I didn't know there was a thread about it. Anyway, what the fuck are they thinking? They just made a fairly decent album a few years ago, and I figured they would build on the momentum of it and record another metal album with flashes of the old Metallica, but NO. They have to do some more ill-advised experimental shit with that fossil Lou Reed. Stick a fork in

The record with Lou Reed is essentially them backing him, much in the same way that Pearl Jam backed Neil Young. Reed wrote all the tunes, and they recorded it in 1 month. As such, it is a fun thing for them to do, not a new Metallica record in that sense of the term.
