I have a lot more respect for the guy after hearing an NPR interview with him about a month back....did not know his playing flowed from an illness.

    Wish the guy recovery!

The good news is it appears they caught it early, and cancer is more treatable in early stages than advanced, so there's hope there.

There cannot be a 'cure for cancer' there can only be a cure for a type of cancer, there are lots of completely different types.

Also a cancer cure would be a cancer treatment so with all due respect that post doesn't make a lot of sense.

Plus the cynical view that a lot of people seem have that the only medical treatments ever developed are by evil multinationals who only want to maximise profits is only a little true. There is a hell of a lot of medical research done by non profit, university or government bodies. In most Western countries there are public healthcare systems who are very keen to save money by curing people quickly and cheaply and that then develops many treatments which are subsequently used in the US.

            Man. This fucking sucks.

Thing is, many of our musical heroes are pretty much in their 50s or older. So we are going to be hearing a lot of this shit in the coming years, unfortunately.

Agree with this 100%...and I saw Sesh's reply.

Sesh and I went through the same exchange in another cancer thread.

But I have to believe that most of the "big" forms of the disease could be wiped out if it wasn't for all of the money being made by prolonging the problem.

Didn't EVH have some top-secret cancer weapon years ago?

He should let us in on the secret...

I did say it was a little true for example it's why we have a lot more pills to make our dicks hard than new antibiotics and that there is a huge effort put into stuff like Ritalin because it's then prescribed for years and years. I'm just saying there is a hell of a lot of research which is done that isn't funded on a profit basis and that there is obviously money to be made in successful cancer treatments rather than just palliative ones.

Cancer survival figures continue to improve a lot.

Apparently Ozzy was meant to be at Zack Wylde's roast this week but had to cancel as he was told to get to England immediately to work on the Sabbath album which was meant to be done later in the year.

That may not be a good sign...

Not in my family. My dad died of lung cancer on April 25, 2011. Fifty nive days later my mother died of lung cancer as well.
