I'm glad I was born two weeks before the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan for their first live appearance back in 64 then I first became aware of them listening to the radio in the back of my parent's car when I about 5 years old back in 69 & I knew their history & their classic rock albums by the time I was 11/12 years old back in 75/76 because they are the ultimate rock & roll band with few equals along with a few others who will always be cool & always be timeless while my favorite era of the group is during the late 60's with their longer hair, outspoken attitude & more emphasis on rock as in the White Album, Abbey Road & Let It Be but the Beatles will always rule above all others including Elvis!!!
The Beatles Will Always Rule.

Elvis was a great singer and had one Hell of a stage presence, but he wasn't a songwriter, and not that great of a musician.
The Beatles did a lot of covers in their early days, but once established, the mighty Lennon/McCartney writing team took over. And George wasn't a bad writer either. Ringo? Ah, Hell I'll even go as far as to say that Octopus' Garden beats the shit out of anything on the radio today.
John Lennon himself said that there would have been no Beatles without Elvis, but without the Beatles, what Elvis accomplished (along with Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, and Little Richard) would have been lost to history. By 1962, it already looked like rock n roll was dead. Not that it was Presley's fault - he got drafted. But in his absence, the music industry forced out a bunch of pre-fabricated bubblegum bullshit.
Thank God the Beatles killed all of that.Eat Us And Smile

The Beatles were great, but let's not go fucking overboard. They weren't the be-all, end-all.
I'd ever surmise that pop-rock could have actually went on without them and been pretty damn good. There were more than enough excellent artists in that era. I could go on and on, but I won't.Comment

Not a day goes past that I dont hear a "New Rock" band on the radio which doesnt contain some instantly recognizeable "Beatle-ism"
Their impact still resonates through every act today.BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !

The problem is..rock/pop bands don't rule the top 40 radio like they did in the 60's/70's. Today's hiphop/rap popular radio has no hint of Beatlesisms as a whole. You can hear more James Brown in the top 40 than any Beatles influence. I'd even surmise that Brown has more influence on popular music today than the Fab Four.Comment
