    huh?

Are you being serious? That would be funny. The guys do a lot of hypocritical stuff. The Edge was building some MAMMOTH sized home in Los Angeles recently that was not very eco-friendly at all.

      Rock n' fucking Roll...

Deserted Ireland it her time of need as their welfare system collapses while constantly urging us all to give our hard earned money.

A band who gained most of their huge wealth and success through the promotion they received from 'charity' events like Live Aid?

      Hmm....

I didn't realize how much I liked U2 until I filled up my iPod... 45 tunes and they are all excellent. By accident I excluded all songs off of Achtung Baby, and picked and chose a select few tunes post-Achtung Baby.

Oh.....!!! you wrote it first: Live Aid. Charity events and good will sometimes produce just the opposite. Living here......I am 48. I was at Live Aid 11/12/1987 in Buenos Aires. I wish I could be there to chat or you to be here, you will understand some things... of the reality of others countries.

U2 was easily one of the best sets at Live Aid. Queen was another. i was sitting out at the pool that day, recording the show on my boombox, and thinking "damn, these guys are ON." and then seeing the video confirmed it.

whatever the Bad EP was, through Pop is the extent of my U2 collection. i may still have Under A Blood Red Sky on cassette somewhere.

Sure they are not for everybody. But I have been nose to my computer monitor for the past 3 months putting this DVD together, and it really changed my viewpoint of them.

In general I like heavier stuff. Maiden, etc.

But watching this particular show time and time again. And the interesting thing is I am not burned out on it. Sure, Bono gets long-winded about his charity work, and I get impatient to hear the next song, but the event where Bono gave his guitar to the blind dude just got me thinking. Reminded me of the charity work they have been involved in over their entire career. And after reading some U2 fan forums, it is widely mentioned that the show here in Gnashville was one of the top shows ever seen by many long-time fans who have seen them 10 + times....so I just got lucky.....I probably would not have had this change in my thinking if the show had sucked, lol.

They never really played in cover bands before they were in U2, as U2 was the only band they were ever in, and so came at their songwriting more from within themselves than being influenced by other people. This made it to where they were not burdened with rock and roll cliches for the most part.

But it is just that I suddenly woke up and realized that they are head and shoulders above a large majority of successful rock and pop artists in their desire to give back to the world.

When they plan a tour, they are always heavily involved in trying to figure out how to make the experience for the ticket-buyer the best it can possibly be. They try to hold down ticket-prices, while creating this amazing fucking production. Their stadium productions are the largest in the history of mankind. Well, perhaps the Ancient Romans could have given them a run for their money when it comes to "Spectacle", lol.

Sorta funny how I acknowledged their existence....liked some of their songs and albums, but was never a huge fan...but their humanity is what changed my opion.

                  Funny epiphany.......

I swear next time they tour I am going to see one of their shows. Have never seen them live.

But they surely are deserving of my hard-earned cash.

                  Ok..that's all, lol.

That was a pretty cool clip with the blind guy.

Nobody can deny U2 as a quality band.

They write good lyrics that make sense and tell a story.

Just not my cup of tea.
