I am not a fan of STING after he left the police. The police were awesome, Sting solo is music you listen to at a Dentist office. If I have to pick a solo Sting song I kinda liked this video.

...From The Soul Cages which is a great, very bleak album. What interesting is the music sounds to upbeat and bright rock, but the lyrics are very dark...

Not a fan of any of the post-Police stuff. The only reason I remember this one is because it was on the soundtrack to one of the coolest fucking movies ever made...

I can see why Sting is an acquired tast for a lot of people post Police. I didn't listen to solo Sting at all until Ten Summoners came out. I thought it was cool and then went back and watched the film Bring on the Night which got me hooked on the Dream album. I thought Nothing Like the Sun and Soul Cages were dull but had moments. The Mercury Falling record in 96 was when his stuff stopped appealing to me. IMO his lyrics are always top notch. When a guy is involved in the monumental stuff that the Police did and then said artist does solo material that is different, i think it is always difficult for some to see the merits.

Best Sting work? 1977-1986. Period. From then on, it all went downhill, to me. Sorry, Envy, but if someone handed me a ticket for a Sting show 10 kilometers from my house, I wouldn't take it. Now if you're talking Stewart Copeland, I'd rip your body for the ticket. Not Sting.
