And you are so sure of that? Nowadays, the trend is "re-mastering" recordings, increasing the loudness and compressing the music. That's pretty much the trend with new music as well. Why do you think A Different Kind of Truth sounds like crap? Call me Neil Young but I am also perplexed. You said above that you detest Pink Floyd, but you will enjoy your Blu-Ray vershes[sic]? But Pink Floyd is something else to me, definitely. Though I understand that in some ways they can sound and look pompous
here and there, saying they suck is really harsh. Some bands do, and some others just don't fit you. I mean, as far as music
tastes, the diplomatic thing to say to avoid arguments is "I don't like it" when you think "it's absolute bullshit"; but stuff like
Pink Floyd or ( sorry
) Led Zeppelin just can't be considered as horseshit - well, just IMHO.
There's a topic that springs into conversation now and then with my girlfriend - she'll tell me "Just say you don't like it, it's not
bullshit", and sometimes when the music is really too lame I'll reply that not everything is good, just like in every field there
are masterpieces and pieces of dung, and a whole scale of values in between. Not everything is worth anything else, unless
you're a nihilist.
As for Nick Mason, he was an interesting musician, he brought original sound effects to some albums and was a good drummer.
But I'll always remember the asshole he was on the "Live in Pompei" video when he claimed he had ordered "apple without crust",
in that old, single English lady's style... Baaaaaah......
